I lived in Round Lake until 1980 and then my family moved to Kentucky. I went to Murphy Elementary and my freshman year at the high school. I haven't been back since and I would like to know how it has changed. I ran around with a girl named Sandy Doppke who had a brother named Bob. Does anyone know what happened to them or where they are at now. I would love to hear from anyone who might remember me, or who knows Sandy.

Some of my family moved up in this area back in 1986, and back then there wasn't much up here at all. Now it's all built up. You wouldn't recognize the place and you probably would be disappointed. I'm sure back in 1980 it was a nice place to live. I wouldn't live in Round Lake now. I haven't heard anything good about the schools. It's crowded, that's for sure. A lot of Hispanics have moved in, so the demographics are way different than when you lived here. I'm sure you wouldn't recognize the place.

Purely out of curiousity, by saying "A lot of hispanics have moved in", is that a negative for the community? Do Hispanics living in the area bring down the standards?

A lot of Hispanics moved in. I didn't say this is a negative. It's more crowded now. The demographics are different than what it was in 1980. Read what you want to read into it. I didn't say anything negative. I stated the facts.

I'm sure that I wouldn't like it now, the place I live in is a small town. It's kind of like Mayberry..LOL. It is a nice place, not much happens here, it is a good place to raise a family. The only set back is you have to drive to the next county to do anything, shopping, movies, bar hopping, anything. And ppl tend to know your business before you do. But the ppl here are friendly, they will help you in a heart beat strangers or not. If anyone knows Rebecca Gayheart, the actress, this is where she is from. Her parents live about 5miles from me, I am actually a little bit related to her mom. But it is a very small town and I wouldn't leave it for anything. I would like to see Round Lake tho and see how it has changed and show my kids where I went to school and hung out. I might try to get up that way this summer.

I have been reading some of the topix headlines, when did Round Lake get to be so violent? It was never like that when I lived there. Teen shootings and all that crime, its so sad. How do you guys cope with all that right in your own back yard? Especially if you have children yourselves and even more so if you have teenagers, which are so easily influenced. It is just hard for me to imagine it being like that. I still want to think of it as kids playing safely in the park without any worries for the parents. I know it has been almost 30 years, but I guess I just didn't think it could change so much.
so kind

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Aquarius

This is a good day for getting on with chores and mundane tasks. You'd much rather get them out of the way than have them hanging over you for any longer than necessary. What's more, you don't want to waste your time by doing things in the wrong order or by being so slapdash that you have to do something a second time. You're setting a terrific example right now!
