Kelly's Cupcakes

Jewel bakery has also now added "specialty" cupcakes. We tried their Snickers and cherry fudge cupcakes this weekend. Both were moist. The cherry fudge tasted great. They need to work on the Snickers frosting and the cake was just chocolate. But they have them priced at $1.99 for 3. I haven't had the chance to get back to Kelly's to see if she's fixed the problem of her cakes being too dry and her frosting being sour, but I don't know if I can justify $14 for 6 when I can get the same type of product that has so far been better quality for less than a third of the price. I will probably still give Kelly's another chance, but her cupcakes need to have improved by a huge margin to compete with the new offerings from Jewel. I'm all for supporting small business, but not at a huge monetary cost and at a loss of quality.

Guess Kelly & Pete never took all the advice offered between the spam and attacks... too bad.

Hoping the new place will be much better!

If you haven't been to the new place, you're missing out. Sweet Discoveries is just that.

I wish Kelly's Cup Cakes had listened/read our responses and not let pride stand in the way. I promote local Antioch businesses by frequenting them, but there is just no excuse for a high price item that is low quality. Unless of course, that's your shhh-tick.

I grew up in Antioch and remember riding my bike to the MerryGoRound bakery on Lake street almost every Sunday morning then going across the street next to the A&P to get a half gallon of milk out of that big vending machine then going to Reeves drug store for the Sunday paper. The bakery not only had fresh pastries but fresh baked bread and that was great. Oh how I miss the simpler times in that great small township of Antioch. Give Kelly's a chance and you will find happiness in the fact that you are part of a new long tradition of a great local dowtown business. I can't wait to return to Antoch and visit Kelly's for a cupcake.

I am actually in Virginia not PA, don't know where that came from.

Well, that was disappointing, I though Sweet Discoveries was a true bakery. It appears that they are just a cupcake shop. I stopped in to pick up a treat for family that was stopping by for coffee & such on short notice, and wound up going to Lovin Oven. The displays looked pretty, just not my thing.
