I am sick of dealing with Roswell's "Tax-me-less Elite." The city is floundering, the illegal immigrants are growing more populous, the new "I'm not a tax" fees are rolling in, the garbage collection service is dictated to us as an out of control expense, the police department is worried they can't handle the crime explosion in Roswell... Roswell is 68% Republican and just look at the run-down real estate in the area. The buildings look old and shoddy, the retail space is nearly the cheapest in the Metr-Atlanta Area, and to boot, anyone who calls themselves a "Republican" is automatically elected to office. No one is pushing an agenda in Roswell which incourages smart development. Sure they have a plan in place to redistribute roads, but they haven't yet figured out how to demolish the apartments and other buildings on the real estate they want to take in order to build new roads. Some of the schools are great because Fulton County funds them through county taxes, so don't give the city credit for that... Historic Roswell has lost its luster because you can't walk anywhere without getting hit by a car. If you want your home values to recover, I suggest electing someone to office that isn't connected to the Republican name and further, doesn't have a long sorted history of the words "LESS TAXES!" because we can see where that gets us... Our city looks like a run-down dump and development jumped right over us into Alpharetta where the answer was, "Yes we can." Thanks to Ross Perot and others who understood smart development. DUMP TOM PRICE and his entire family! He is a disaster and master of NO WE CAN'T!!!

Well, denial isn't a river in Egypt, just because you like to ignore fact doesn't make them wrong. Secondly, although people aren't perfect, claiming that somehow because Democrats are elected, or any other party, as I have set forth herein (or are those too big of words for you?) are imperfect is just purely fantasy. However, having said that we know that for the past 8 years, our entire country, except the 9th circuit court and a only a smattering few states within the US were completely controlled by Republicans. During that time, they plunged us into 2 quagmire wars without an exit strategy, raised the debt ceiling 3 times to support their agenda, raised taxes on local communities while decreasing income taxes on the top 3% of income earners as well as corporations (who then used that money to establish overseas business), increased energy cost by 175%, deregulated the power company, reformed an effective monopoly once called Ma' Bell, N.K.A. Bellsouth, and fought a religous war with the American public which amounted to little more than bigotry against our fellow Americans. Now that Roswell is suffering the benefits of Republican control, it is struggling to remain a competitive community, it is now imposing "fees" instead of taxes, and it has no plan or recovery action to rid the area of increasing crime, decreasing residential income, and abandoned Retail space. Overall, because you are so fearful of electing a change agent, you would rather use racist bigotry, destroy the idea of civil rights, and charge that CHILDREN are the target. In fact, PAM, the only persons that have attacked children, that we know of in political careers over the near term were Republicans and the arrest records prove it. Start with worrying about your own home and your friends before you cast various aspersions at people you don't know, just because their title or name might be different. You are the person that is ruining America because you refuse to accept change as a fruitful endeavor. How do you sleep at night? Pam wrote: Wow, that Kool-Aid you gave me was good! That's nice. A new Yorker responds to comments in Roswell, Ga. Secondly, he uses Fox news, as fact. Frankly, a news station that can not use verbs in its description of daily news, rather, that it replaces verbs with adjective phrases as a legitimate sentence structure, is less than useless. It futher defines illiteracy in its most diligent form. Can you imagine writing a paper for school which included only adjectives? Well, in your right-wing theocracy that might be ok, but in the educated world, it is not credible. You know, its funny to me how all you Republican conservatives use your bastion of media, with a myopic viewpoint, to assert factual reality, meanwhile claiming no other source is credible. In fact, most of us that are trying to change the world and dispose of bigotry, hatred, and downright religious servitude, as in the case of the American Family Association or Focus on the Family, attempt to seek out rational reasoning, learn from mistakes and move forward without fearing or hating what we don't understand. Frankly, the article that was quoted from Fox News, uses fear of secular society, persecution of ideals and, and victimization tactics to cause delusion of grandeur. Its classic Mein Kompf theory: If you tell a lie long enough,(society) will believe it. They will become fearful of what they do not understand in order to achieve a known outcome. Further, that (society) will seek out a leader that (gives) them information which aligns what they believe to be instinctive fear, but that is actually possessed through learned behavior, even at a subconscious level. On a different level. If you are worried about child molestors and gays, it seems to me you might want to look at your heterosexual family members as the abusers. Not that you would believe anyone but Sean Hannity, but I will put this out for understanding. http://www.registeredoffenderslist.org/what-i... Just so you know, I ll bet all of the offenders in your neighborhood are "heterosexual." Stop this non-sense, illiterate ranting about homosexuals invading your home and your school. It's your husband you should be worried about, or maybe your elected official. Further, what is that article doing for Roswell? Nothing. Not one thing. Is it curing Roswell's rising crime? Are the PUBLIC schools among the best the state has to offer? Yes! Why? Because the so-called, liberals, in Fulton (Democrats) appropriate tax money from citizens of Roswell, to make that happen. You should thank Fulton County for the great schools and stop with the bigotry and irrational behavior against the very people that are educating the city's children. Stop Electing Republicans just because Fox news tells you to or simply because someone tells you lies you want to believe. Focus on change for the benefit of the future and the children you are so worried about. I actually took the time to thoughtfully compose a detailed response to your previous post and itemize just how incorrect you are on everything as major as your Mein Kompf theory (which is employed by the Dems just as often) down to I'm from New York and don't have any ties to Roswell (actually own property and pay taxes there). Unfortunately, it was lost in cyberspace somewhere and will hopefully show up on this page eventually, although it would probably be lost on you as well. I have other endeavors to occupy my time and not enough to waste continuing to respond to your drivel. If I were you I would demand my money back from Brown Mackey or Phoenix University, whichever correspondance school from which you obtained your vast knowledge. Good luck with having Obama appoint you a personnal czar to accomodate your craziness. Have a nice day now!

Clearly Pam, you didn't read the quoted FOX news article claiming that teaching kids about LGBT issues is bad for America. Where did you ever get that I was denigrating gays? You're the one that implied perverts and weirdos infected the Democratic Party. It was then that Mr. New York backed that up with an article about LGBT folks ruining America's Children. I can read between the lines, I know who is denigrating whom. You can't refute the facts, once again, you just chose to ignore, castigate, and character assassinate. Those are the reasons this country can't move forward, more importantly, its the reason Roswell is rotting around the edges, running a skeleton police crew, can't attract new retail and business, will not provide for a pedestrian friendly environment in its city center, and will not work with zoning issues so that old retail centers can be torn down and gentrified. Moreover, the citizens that vote 68% Republican don't want change and the city continues to stagger. That's bad news for Roswell, bad news for home owners, and bad news for business. The last thing we need is more Tom Price and Wife. What has Tom Price done for Georgia besides lay in bed with insurance companies, stand against health care options, castigate change as if its a bad word, and propagate fear of the future, fear of others, and fear of helping your community out. The last thing I want is his wife running a fear campaign in Roswell. And as for the current city council Republicans; why don't they endorse Community leadership parties that encourage healthy city-hood? Rather than TEA parties that divide and conquer and spread fear and hate there should be pride and joy in the community as an established moniker. The state of Georgia, under Republican Rule is broke, the schools are failing in 90% of the communities, we lost all of Atlanta's auto manufacturing, we can't attract new business and our insurance and electric rates are up nearly 34% in the past 2 years. Way to go Republicans! OneWhoKnowsYou wrote: c3 obviously is an appropriate moniker (Clearly Clueless and Confused)

The schools are failing, businesses leave Atlanta and an inability to attract new business - these things are all related. A City that has paralleled itself with Detroit. The similarities are overwhelming. Corrupt City government, biased and infested with crime and citizens that embrace a culture that is killing them but are too blinded by anger and hate to realize any kind of pride or self worth. That is the problem with Atlanta. But go ahead and tell yourself whatever you need to hear. This is an inconvenient truth.

Wow you are SOOO Right!! I am SOOO happy to see somoene that understands! Throughout Detroits past 10 years, Governor Engler got in bed with GM and Chrysler, told them to help gentrify the city, ran it with an iron fist of Corporate take over, brought in gambling as an option to attract tourists from Canada, and ignored the rest of the city in the mean time. He divided the city between the UAW and the "others." Similarly, the Republcans in Georgia have run off Ford, our state's oldest auto manufacturer, cut education funding more than 4 different times, cut health care options, cut special needs programs, and the list goes on. He destroyed the outer perimeter and now that Insurance Clown Oxendine wants to build MORE roads instead of smart transportation systems. they have no plan to attract business, they only have a plan to take my taxes and build more urban sprawl. Could the Republicans be more wrong? Detroit and Atlanta- Strange bedfellows indeed. All - C3 needs to take a course in debate. He blames the Republicans in Roswell government on the blight, etc. Then, he backs up his argument with Pres. Bush. It does not work. "No one is pushing an agenda", he says. Maybe, that is exactly how the people here want it. The historic downtown area seems to be doing fairly well. Maybe we like it quiet here as a suburban community. Why is it the Roswell City governments responsibility to worry about an agenda? Yes, development can be nice if managed by private funds. C3 - if you really have a plan (instead of long winded blogs) put it into the local newspaper and lets see who supports it, gives you campaign funds and votes you in. Best of luck.

Emmaline, let's hope that the previous 2 comments can stand on their own without interpretation.
All I want to see is Georgia ranked better than the worst state in the Union. Let's hope Roswell sees the light, because right now the city is beginning to look like an urban war zone and we all remember what happened to Chamblee and Doraville with they couldn't get it together... They went broke and folded. Is Roswell just going to remain an extension of these cities?

Well, I don't want to burst anyone's bubble. However, I have lived in the area in the past. C3 is an intelligent, well-informed individual who people in Roswell should appreciate more. If you want a city that will continue to be viable and livable in the future rather than fading to obsolescence perhaps it is time to stop thinking about your own pocket books and start thinking together as a city. City Planning in any town or city is one of the most important things that can take place. Especially, transportation and intelligent decisions are important. More and more roads are not the answer. Intelligent transportation supplementing roads with high speed transit are of the utmost importance. This is particularly true in a metro area as large as Atlanta. Wake up and smell the coffee. The morning has past and you all are still in bed. C3 is already up and trying to make a difference.

Roswell needs to enforce some serious zoning ordinances. What is with the Value Village area? Why are people just allowed to hang around and make trouble and no one seems to care? That area is turning into a drug infested crime haven. Why aren't the richie rich people in their million dollar homes complaining about this...it's 1/2 mile from million dollar homes!!! Has no one noticed this? Where is Roswell City Council? What in the hell have they been doing while their City rots out from under them?
