I am an African-American female. I find the whole thing hilarious. I believe that my people takes things too literally at times. If the guy is being racist, that is his business. Everyone is a racist or sexist or homnophobic to some degree. And if you say you aren't, then you are a liar. Plain and simple.
Finally, someone after my own heart and someone who I dcan agree with. Everyone, don't take your self so seriously.

whatever happened to freedom of expression?
That was taken into consideration - read the article a little closer.

Everyone has the right to express their opinions and views, but that doesn't mean that others wont find it offensive, demeaning racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.

And those people who are offended have the right to express their opinions and views - understand.

It's not like the guy was arrested or anything - they asking him to stop selling the shirts ...

their right and his right to keep on 'selling' if he so wishes

This bar owner does have the right to express what he feels. The person who owns the copyrights to CG has the right to sue his butt off and individuals have the right to protest and boycott his business. Hope he sells a lot of T-Shirts he may need the cash.

Well, what does one expect in Georgia? There are some exceptions, but by and large, the south remains full of racist, sexist, homophobic fundamentalist rednecks.
I hope the individual who owns the copyright on Curious George takes every cent that bar owner has!
As opposed to Illinois who features men who dress up like clowns, rape little boys and bury them under the house? You remember John Gacy right?

Or how about an entire city that blamed and threatened the life of Steve Bartman for trying to catch a foul ball along with dozens of other fans during a Cubs playoff game.

Then there's the state that elected Barack Obama to the Senate. His district is a disaster, he hasn't even run a candy store and y'all think he's qualified to be president now.

I'll take Georgia over that kind of horsesht anyday.

I did think before I posted...and stand by my comments. Perhaps you should travel more extensively throughout the south; some stereotypes are true.

What do you think his intent was? Seems to me that he is not an Obama supporter and may have been driven by capitalism, racism, politics or some combination of the three.

No, I do not know every single southerner. Growing up in the south, however, and spending the first 40 years of my life there, I am well aware of the racist, sexist, and homophobic attitudes that permeate the southern culture. Anyone who claims otherwise is either ignorant or lying...or both.
Of course, the t-shirt is racist...and it was clearly intended to be.
<quoted text>
You're pretty myopic if you think racism, sexism and homophobia are primarily found in the south. Significant portions of the black community are especially homophobic and bigotted no matter where you live. Have you seen how black men treat their women? They treat them sooo good that about 70% of all babies are born to out of wedlock mothers who don't get any help from the absentee fathers. Have you seen the dropout rates? Have you seen the incarceration rates? Have you seen the domestic abuse rates? Have you seen the black on black crime statistics compared to other races?

Quit being a f**kin' idiot, stereotypes are everywhere, not just "concentrated" in the south.

I'm a southerner through and through and find your remarks ignorant. Thanks for continuing the stereotype dude. There are plenty of "racist, sexist homophobic fundamentalist rednecks" in all parts of the country. It all depends on the individual. I just recently moved from Atlanta and there is a huge African-American populace there. It's not like the shirt is coming from "backwoods" Georgia or anything. Expand your mind bro.

Take heed, O brethren! Lo, we must not offend the poor downtrodden blacks with unsensitive jesting or rude comments.

Liken yourselves unto the righteous, such as Li'l Wayne, 50-cent, Snoop Dogg, Ice T, and other angels of mercy who would never stoop to vulgar racism.

Be not a nappy headed ho.

The Obama campaign should embrace the Curious George caricature. It would make Obama appear to be a man with class and a sense of balance (a couple of things he lacks). It would also make him appear cute and innocent (two things he's not). Heck, no wonder they don't like the T-shirts!

OK, how 'bout Biden as the man in the yellow hat?

How about a tee shirt of her town hall, with "Experience Counts" emblazoned across it.

Republicans loftily sniff about the "executive experience" of McCain's beauty queen pick, so follow the link to view the fountainhead Wasilla City Hall where this experience was garnered supervising 53 employees for a "city" of 6500 people.

Real actual photo, not a joke:

McCain's Campaign should be sued for mislabeling their product.

Ask yourself if running that place qualifies anyone to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
