So it's OK to caricature Dubya as Curious George, as has been going on for the past 8 years?

But Obama, who looks more like Dubya than his own kids do, we can't?

And then we're supposed to believe that it's racist in one case but not the other?

Or we're supposed to believe that racism is only when Obama is depicted, but not Dubya?

No wonder people are leaving the Democratic party in droves. This sort of knee-twitch ideology is the political equivalent of ecclesiastical authority. It steps in to slap behaviors that the priests themselves do. The underlying message is that the ecclesiasts (in this case liberal Democrats) are more powerful than you, and can punish you just because they feel like it.

Everyone is a racist or sexist or homnophobic to some degree. And if you say you aren't, then you are a liar. Plain and simple.
Sooooo true, amen to that, well said.

I can remember Mohammad Ali,(the boxer) calling other black fighters ugly monkeys, but that is just life.
I had been called so many names, when I was child, in the public schools I attended, I soon just took them for granted.
This is so silly being caught up in something like this, as if this is the worst thing that happens to Mr. Obama, he will be fine.

Mohammad Ali said,(talking about Sonny Liston) "I'll knock that big monkey's ears off!"
Mohammad did win, but some people said the fight was thrown.

Well, what does one expect in Georgia? There are some exceptions, but by and large, the south remains full of racist, sexist, homophobic fundamentalist rednecks.
I hope the individual who owns the copyright on Curious George takes every cent that bar owner has!
Good gosh. As other posters noted, since GW first took office, there have been a million websites devoted to whether GW looks like a monkey. They were amusing and no one took offensive

Not to point out the obvious, but you are the one stereotyping an entire state and stereotyping people you don't even know. Who is the mean-spirited bigot? YOU ARE. So please, do us a favor and shut up.

Because there are cartoons, t-shirts, and who knows what else out there that makes fun of every politician. Only someone completely thin-skinned would be offended, especially when he *does* look like Curious George!

If Obama was smart, he'd hook up with the Curious George author and have fun with it. "Curious George Goes to Washington" or something like that.

No, I do not know every single southerner. Growing up in the south, however, and spending the first 40 years of my life there, I am well aware of the racist, sexist, and homophobic attitudes that permeate the southern culture. Anyone who claims otherwise is either ignorant or lying...or both.

Of course, the t-shirt is racist...and it was clearly intended to be.

The ones who make this a race issue YET AGAIN are the people who make it in to a race issue. what is up with our world today where we can compare a white man to a monkey but you cant compare a black man to one. Everybody knows more blacks than whites look like monkey's, get over it, that's the way God made you. Whites on the other hand look more like pigs than blacks do, im pink as the pinkest pink, if someone called me a pig i wouldnt flip out over it, 1. its freedom of speech 2. STICKS AND STONES MAY BRAKE MY BONES BUT WORDS WILL NEVER HURT ME. Hey liberals and blacks, think about that one. Why can liberals and blacks say all this stuff about Bush for 8 years and then once white republicans finally have something to talk about we get in trouble for it. EVERYONE KNOWS IT Barack Obama looks like a monkey

Why do black people get so offended when they are compared to monkeys or gorillas. Many blacks do resemble these types of animals. It's not really a racist observation right? I mean forget the racist aspect of the way people use it....some black people do look like these animals right? It's the same as some people looking just like their dogs. It's not racist it's just true. Anyway, sometimes nipples can be fun.

Blacks are offended? That's a shame. Perhaps they should have thought about speaking out a little louder when Rev. Wright came to light. The stand the self proclaimed 'black leaders' in defending his right to spew his vile racist views, opened the door. Having seconds thoughts on the freedom of expression and equal protection when you don't like the message is a bit disingenuous. Either everyone has the freedom of expression or no one does.

man so much conterversy over something as simple as comparing Obama to Curious George. whii i why it may be misstooken for racist, you have to remember Many people compare bush to a monky as well, and he is white. anyway i think its a cute shirt, and even though the guy did not have permision to use Curious George should not be misstaken for racist. would it help if it was a golden monkey? would so many people still think it is racist? i gess it just depends on the person, and if they look at the intended overall meaning and not just jump right to conclusions.(this is what my dad tells me to do and now i use reasoning in my decisions, not just one-siddedness.)
