Maybe the Mayor got tired of the childish comments that were being submitted on his blog. I am sure, since the blog was a freebee hosted by Google, that city budget had nothing to do with its demise. Personally, I think the mayor is doing a good job and would vote for him again. Its not a perfect job, yet good for the most part. I dont think the college gets everything it wants. Its a trade off, the building are off the tax rolls, yet if they were taxed, I would guess they would not be there. I hear of very little problems between the city residence and the college. And no, I am not voting for a college kid with DC citations.

Amen to this, George. But don't worry - there are enough childish letters in the paper these days. Hey, and congratulations, the town whiner has not pinned the "You have to be the Mayor" label on you :)

Mayor's blog shut down. Any idea why?
Didn't want to be made a fool out of anymore, right before re-election? Something tells me any comments made on his blog weren't so childish after all? Threat to a guilty conscience, perhaps?

Why would letters in the paper about U.S. Veterans be whining? What is happening to this country with all this unpatriotism and politicians treating people like tax-paying manure?

I doubt the poster was referring to letters about veterans. You weren't serious were you? I would imagine they were referring to a long-winded letter from last week's paper which incorrectly claimed the mayor's role on some boards were conflicts of interest. As for the blog, I am curious as to why it was shut down, but after reading some of the comments I can see why. Shame he did it though since there was some good information on there.

Speaking of the candidate for mayor, does anyone know what his platform is? Why is he running? Does he have a website?

If the mayor shut down the blog right before election because of childish comments, then he only started it in the first place to try and counter the comments he was threatened by?? I never thought about it until I read the logic here. Looks bad for him.

The mayoral election is still a long ways away. The mayor did not just shut down his blog just before the election. There are several reasons why he may have shut down his blog, some of which do not have anything to do with childish comments he was threatened by. The comments posted from at least one commenter in particular was obnoxious and silly. I personally did not feel those comments were any threat. In any case, the mayor had to approve the comments first. If he did not want a comment posted, it did not get posted. Remember that.

Election is only 6 months away. No time like the present to lay low. Like many politicians do.

How do you know so much about the mayor's reasons and apparent censorship? Are you being silly and obnoxious here instead of on mayor's blog?

Yeah, I saw him on the front page of the paper. He is really laying low. "Apparent censorship"? Um, your law or journalism degree came from where?

Tell the kid to come over to Princeton. We could use a Mayor that cares about something other than the Bears and watching the town fall apart. If the kid is 21 he could probably win the Mayor job off the present guy in bar dice game.

Relax. The real Beck would devour the eggheads running our school district for breakfast - with ketchup - before the sun came up.

The real Glen Beck would have eaten up the idiots who filed that lawsuit and write silly little letters to the paper with their facts screwed up before moving on to the school board.

See "horseapples"! I'm HumptyDance above trying to start trouble again! It's what I do - I like my status quo and all the influential friends I've made! They kiss my butt because they think I'm smarter than them (I am)! I don't want those friends to go away and stop liking me because I'm a nobody without them!

Dear Readers and Commentators,
I am Jeremy Custer and I am running for Mayor of Ripon. I've lived in Ripon for summers of my Sophomore and Junior year working in the area. I do not own in the area and therefore don't pay property taxes. I plan on settling in Ripon, I am originally from Chicago and have fallen in love with the pace and genuine sincerity of people in Ripon. I feel that I have become a part of the community and have a vested interest in the city just as much as any other citizen despite my tax status-which I hope in the next few years to own.
I just want to clear one thing up- I am not going to be a lackey for the College. In my time at Ripon College, I have been a vocal critic of many of the College's policies and was critical of the "Green Space" that took out Elm and Seward Streets. I feel that favor has been given to the college in some cases and I understand where the suspicion of a college student running for Mayor and their motives.
My Campaign Team and I will have the platform and the blog launched this Monday November 30th and we will post the link here that morning.
One of the many reasons I am running is I believe in the democratic process. Mayor Kramer was unopposed in the most recent election and seek to further the debate and dialog needed to resolve issues voice on this forum. I believe that what we need is a new voice and I think most share this sentiment.
I understand that I need to prove above all that despite being a college student I am ready to lead this town. I want to empower the citizens and collectively move to a better Ripon than it is today.
Sincerely,
Jeremy R. Custer

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Leo

You're really on the ball today so there's no danger of anyone tricking you or fobbing you off with lame excuses. If you suspect that a loved one is hiding something from you, you'll want to question them in a lot of detail. That's all very well but try not to turn it into the third degree, nor to make them feel hounded or bullied by your desire to know what's going on.
