Coach Madrigal was like a father to me. I will thank him everyday for what he has done from me and my family.
Rosemead has lost a great man, mentor, coach, teacher, citizen and friend.
Thank you Coach Madrigal... For Everything!

I have not seen it mentioned yet, but Louie was also an Alumni of Rosemead High from the class of 1974. Those of us who knew him then will also remember a great guy and always I will remember him with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
I remember when I was working at Squaw Valley in the summer of 1977 and seeing Louie at the wrestling camp as part of the teams who came through the line to be fed. You couldn't mistake that birthmark!
We watched his career grow and he will be sorely missed by his classmates and friends of the early 1970's from Rosemead High.

It's been over 20 years since I competed for Rosemead High School, and not one year has passed that Lou and I had not talked or seen each other. He was many things to many people. To me he was a man I own perhaps my life to. I wasn't the best athlete he ever coached, but he was the best coach I ever had. We all will miss him.

Louie is what being a coach is all about. He cared about the communty as well as the kids. I have never seen a coach give as much as he did. I will miss him and others will as well.

Louie, has certainly left a legacy; he inspired many wrestlers throughout the years. Having wrestled for him for four years he installed dedication and hard work that made me a better man. I will never forget a quote he would often say,“Humility is the greatest virtue of a champion” May you rest in peace Coach.

Louie was a great guy. Known him since Jr High School. Never knew of anyone who didn't like him, he just had that likeable personality.
His family would alway decorate the house for Christmas every year.
Does anyone know what caused his death?
Peace Out, Jim

In 1981-82 Coach Madrigal was my freshman base ball coach, I remember him as a good mentor. He was tough but very fair. It's a big loss to all. He will be missed.

As a close member of Louie's (Jr.) family, I am touched by all your kind words. His mom and dad raised a good son. They were waiting for him in heaven. As a coach myself, it didn't matter that it was a different sport... Jr. would always have a "golden nugget" of advise. I will miss our chats. He would always end his conversations with, "you know what I mean". Yes, I know what you mean... You set the best example of it. Love,(Cousins) Ralph, Debbie, Chris and Lisa

Louie was not only a great wrestling mentor but he was also friends with other students on campus as well. As someone already mentioned he always had a smile on his face for everyone. Eager to motivate and set a good example for the students around him. One of the good guys!

I would like to share my sense of gratitude for knowing such a caring and tough coach. Louie has kept the sport of wrestling alive for RHS and has built an everlasting reputation for respect for the school in the wrestling community, locally and at the state level. Never being one of his favorite wrestlers,By my second year in the sport - his methods won me league champ. A great picture that he had taken hangs on my wall today. It's there to inspire my son as he is just finishing up his first year in high school wrestling. And i am still applying Louies techniques! Coach- your light still shines. May God bless you - always.

Dead Serious,Im sorry you feel this way.But in life winning is everything.I dont think he ment if you lose your nothing. He ment if you lose dont settle for that.Stand back up and try again, that what makes you a winner.Just stay in the game.Find something your good at and run with it.And I am related to Louie he was my coach and friend.Like him Im far from perfect.Never the less ,I hope you find peace in life.Respect is lost, not given.

Dead serious get a life and get over it. Louie upset me a few times with things that he said but now that I look back I realize that he was only trying to have me grow up and be a man.

I knew Louie while attending RHS. He was always a sweet guy and could make you laugh. I am glad so many had the chance to get to know him. He was a wonderful person. May he rest in peace with the angels above. To you who have to trash up the comments "Shame on You All"
