$200.00 Says your an Idiot.
Excerpt from Article --->Police confirmed the identity of the Fort Salonga man yesterday after notifying his next of kin. They said Kozak was speeding north on Route 110 in the cherry-colored Lotus convertible at 11:35 p.m. Saturday when he crashed into a black Cadillac Escalade that was attempting to turn left onto Melville Park Road

... and if the Escalade was not paying attention it's still the speeding Lotus' fault?
Anyone who has not sped on 110 can now continue to blame speed. And yes, just 5mph is still speeding.

Was he driving on 110 or going 110? It takes a lot of speed for a 2000 lb lotus to overturn a 6000 lb escalade.

The Lotus driver was a great person named Jeff who was loved by family, friends and many other people. he dedicated his time to care for his ailing mother. He was a charitable man who helped many.

My condolences go to his family and friends.

This accident reguardless of who or what is to blame is not important.
What is important is that the survivor will heal and his family will be together. i wish them a quick recovery and pray for them.

Please consider that when you post these messages that someone who loved, cared, or parented Jeff may read this. During this time of mourning we should respect the family.

One day we will all pass on, if you dont have anything nice to say then please dont say anything at all.

Peace & Prayers to all who must go on with their days, and may time heal your heart and know that Jeff was loved and will be missed.

While I agree with you that prayer is what is needed at this point...it is also extremely important to try to learn from this. Reckless driving is one of the top problems on Long Island as it is in many areas. I fear for my kids lives when they are anywhere near a busy road. Whether Mr. Kozak was a good man or not, he exasperated an already out of control problem. What would have happened if the other car were not an Escalade? What if it were a group of high school kids in a small car who just graduated? What if it were a family headed home after dinner at relatives?
I believe what his family can do now is to make sure Mr. Kozak did not die in vain. Once they are at a point in their healing where they can do it...use Mr. Kozac's mistake as an avenue for change. He is a perfect example how reckless driving can lead to huge losses. This was not some crackhead who died running from the cops. This was a good man who shouldn't have died. This is a perfect opportunity to use his legacy to make the area safer.

Good job Jeff. Nice stunt, but you can only do it once.
Thanks for putting everyone else at risk . The jerk should have found a nice pole or bridge on a quiet road to hit.

Sorry you are wrong, it is important. Speeding in these sports cars kills.....it's wreckless and it's no better than driving drunk.....how many people who drive, drunk and kill people were "great people" too. While I feel for his family, you cannot say why it happened isn't important......people need to learn from this and SLOW DOWN.....you want to drive fast, go to Riverhead raceway.

You lost the bet! Read the article again-it's short. Lotus driver WAS speeding. You'd have to be to (almost) disintegrate the car.

Justine, his bet was that he WAS speeding. I had to read it again also. I wasn't going to bet against him.

I dont care how fast or slow you are going, if someone makes a left turn in front of you thre is going to be an accident. The slower you go the more likelyhood of surviving.

This was not a mistake. By grossly exceeding the posted speed limit, Mr Kozac engaged in criminal conduct, SELFISHLY disregarding the safety of the entire community.
He is a perfect example how reckless driving can lead to huge losses.
What loss? There is one less moron on the road. That's a good thing. I hold nothing but contempt for the speeding and tailgating jerks who intentionally endanger my family's safety.

Mr. Kozac was not a good man. Good men don't place themselves or the public at risk of serious harm or death. If he had survived, I would tell him to grow up and become a responsible MAN.

My condolences to the family and friends of the deceased...though I have a feeling they saw the writing on the wall long b4 he crashed into an innocent person.

actually not really
maybe you should study physics
this shows why SUV's should not be permitted on public roads
there is no reason for 6000 lb tanks on public roads
