This is just the beginning next the town will give them a bunch of tax breaks and they will use the money to move their plant to China. Just like Kokomo, Anderson, Ft Wayne So Bend Area and so on. Fast food and working for the health care buisiness are the only jobs for your future. Just Like These towns.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!!!
I have family that works there and they have been through this crisis before. The company is privately owned and it will not go over seas. Since you are so negative about the economy or worried about a job, I have a solution for you. MOVE TO CHINA!!!
Are you kidding

Both my husband and my son worked at Harrison Steel. These were second jobs, enabling them to continue farming when that occupation was a low income proposition. They made good money and had great benefits. In fact, it was Harrison Steel medical benefits that paid the hospital bills when our son was diagnosed with MS. The Harrison family has not only employed those willing to work but has benefited communities in both counties with generous community endeavors.
Companies like this are the backbone of local economy and should be thanked, not vilified.

From what I've heard, they already have a plant in China to compete globally (ie: to not expensively ship heavy/huge castings over seas).

I seriously doubt Harrison Steel would ever move out of Attica.

Lets all be thankful that the plant is still employing 792 employees. It could be worse. Lets just hope it doesn't get there.

Well its hitting small towns everywhere..I guess my question is when the government was giving money to other countries did they have a list of rules and stipulations also...We are the backbone of the country and our government needs to support us working class for a change...not OTHER COUNTRIES

They do allot of the bigger and heavier parts that makes the employers paychecks and profits the company. Sounds like giving somethin ridiculousy small is a no brainer. I am sure they offered other foundries the part and they didnt want nothing to do with it or was not capable of manufacturing it.

They are very generous to the company when things are up!!! Benefits are excellent also, so please dont down a family that does care for their employees. Some will differ because they probably got ticked off at what they have to do. If they dont like it let others have their job.

What bothers me is when a company lets these illegals work and layoff a natural citizen. Now that is just wrong!!!

Tom this was not a slam against Harrison Steel in anyway, I am sure they hated doing what they were forced to do more or less..what I mean is let the government step in and help these small businesses

my husband works at HS and has for more than 20 yrs, however this "layoff" is not what it has been portrayed to the public. All of the people who have been "laid off" were informed that they were terminated. This allows the company to stop all benefits, withdraw them from the company sponsored insurance and screws those people on their unemployment. Also, the company has "laid off" US citizens and have allowed illegal Mexicans to continue to work in the plant. So for those of you who are singing the praises of Harrison's, you should consider these factors.

You are right, I was employed here and it is ran by a bunch of BSers and seems to only want to hire illegal immagrants!! I think someone should bust in there again to see that they re-hired all the illegals back after the last raid!!

The HS company is nothing but LIES! They don't care for their employees besides the illegals...which still have their jobs...Their pockets are filled while their employees work in horrible conditions for peanuts...They should refraim from telling the press they laid-off when in actual fact they fired most of the workers...mind you which where TAX paying citizens of the USA!

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Capricorn

With the imaginative Moon in your house of significant others creating deceptive waves with dreamy Neptune, it's one of those difficult days in which you could talk yourself into doing or thinking almost anything. You normally have both feet planted firmly on the ground, but now it's time to indulge in some delicious flights of fancy. If you do disappear into a world of your own, be sure to return to Planet Earth in the near future.
