Shots Fired in WesGlen subdivision

Is anyone else sick and tired of the handful of homes that are destroying our subdivision? Just the other day I saw several families walking with their kids enjoying the beautiful day only to be interrupted by shots fired at the Hermanson elementary school. I believe the police caught the kid by mere luck since they responded to an accident in the school parking lot that occurred just before. We all have one or two houses in each of our mini-subdivisions where illicit activity is obvious with crowds of teens (gangbangers) gather to try and intimidate the neighborhood. It is time each of us took control of our neighborhoods and if that means video taping and calling the police at every moment until these scumbags are arrested or back to the roach motel they came from then so be it. A special note to the parents of these miscreants: You are on warning and the community will no longer tolerate your lack of discipline and absence of parenting skills. Also, if your kids are under 18 you are financially liable for their actions and you thought it was hard to pay your sub-prime mortgage before.

I didn't hear about the shots in Hermansen. But i heard the fight and what sounded like gun shots Friday night in Wespark, Coralbell Ct. A couple of police cars roamed the subdivision like they were searching for someone.

There were NO shots fired at the Hermansen School. There was no GUN SHOTS either. It was a paintball gun. It is not GANG related either. It was a domestic dispute.

Cops were on the scene very fast. My biggest grip it that the local paper did not have the story in it so this way no rumors would start.

the one in wespark was a party. 13 were arrested

Sick and tired you sound like a bitter individual. Instead of pointing fingers why don't you get off your ass and be useful by getting involved in the community to make it better. There is no gang problem here just a few teens going around trying to be like them.

nomatter where you go promblems are every where you go.its the parents that letting their kids do what ever they want. if my kids ever do that crap thye will be grounden off of everything and anything till they are 18 and out of the house.

And you uppity people on the west side thought the east side of Romeoville was bad. No gun shots by my house, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

AWESOME response!!!! I can't stand it when people complain but don't do a darn thing to help our community!!! Good for you for saying something! Hopefully, that person will call the village hall, police dept. or schools and find out how they can get involved instead of just complaining! THANK YOU!!

I believe maybe "sick and tired" just had one of those days. I actually had one of those days today which is how i stumbled on this post. While mowing my lawn, I look around at the neighboring homes. Unkept, dilapidated, etc.....is it to much to ask that homeowners act like they give a damn about their property? Sometimes I think I live in a trailer park......not a chance i could ever sell my home! It would be nice if the association actually enforced some of its bylaws.

There have been no cases of a suburbn community in decline coming back. Look at all of the collar communities that sit west/southwest of Chicago proper (i.e. Beverly, Maywood, Bellwood, Alsip, Oak Lawn, Matteson). Proviso East was one of the top High Schools in the country but subtract white people and add baby making minorities who want hand outs and presto instant decline. It is a fact Hand Outs x Incentives for Babies = POVERTY. The quickest way to fix this generational problem is to de-incentivize having more and more babies.

Progressive ideology is destroying America one handout at a time.

Wesglen is fine. I'd go as far to say even pretty great. I've had no problems in 5 1/2 years. I've left my garage door open overnight more times than I can count and left my front door unlocked for a week or more at a time without noticing. Not even a golf club missing.

No graffiti, no real gang presence, the police are seen cruising through fairly regularly. I take long walks at night with not even the smallest issue. There's no menacing, no nosy neighbors. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Wesglen. I challenge you to find a better subdivision in the area, especially for the money
