Can't say I blame then based upon what he has said. Also wouldn't blame Protestant Ministers if they condemmed Bush for making such a big deal out of meeting the Pope personally.

Why? It's not a big deal?

I think it is a big deal. He's the leader of one of the largest world religions. 22% of all Americans are Catholic. The Catholic Church has the largest membership of any other church in the United States.

It seems entirely reasonable to me that Bush should put on the dog for the Pope.

Oh Please. They , various Muslims leaders, have said so many negative things against other religions, this slight is nothing. Look at what the Muslims have said against the Jews who are a minority group, everywhere, but in Israel. Look at what the Muslims do to converters? As someone who believes in separation between Church and State, I do resent all intervention of Church, of all religions into my government, but I am not going to get my panties in a huff over this. Bush is an idiot and as far as Islam in concerned, they are always complaining about not getting enough respect and threatening to riot, behead or kill.
And, they do. Then they call themselves the religion of peace, in this day and age. We should be past that.

I agree. Muslims suck and they are all two faced with their attitudes to the US and the west. Let's get them all out of the US. The Pope is no better himself. He is a shaman and a fraud.

The church rejects interracial marriages? I think you're mistaken.

I think that the Muslim world knows full well why we as a country have our guards up when it comes to them...The Pope has been threatened by leaders of these Muslim groups...
We know who took down our Towers and who bombed our Pentagon and yes while we try to move on from that nightmare and heal....
WE WILL NEVER FORGET...we are cautious and distant for good reason...
Anyone...non-muslim and muslim even....would think that moving with caution is smart and care should always be taken...
let me tell you that if a muslim moved in next door with all their pomp and circumstance...I would feel uncomfortable and I think it would be a while before I invited them to dinner...I would attempt to be neighborly and bring over a coffee cake....but everything I did would be over extreme caution...With good reason...and for that I don't apologize...Never throw caution to the wind...Once bitten...twice shy....you know them by their fruits...

I guess when the Muslims said they wanted a "dialogue" rather than a "ceremonial visit", they meant that they didn't want to show the leaders of both religions respecting each other, but rather that wanted the pope to sit still as they criticized Christians.(Any equally-blunt response to Muslims criticism of Christians would, of course, be met by world-wide riots by the followers of "the religion of peace".)

Thank god we have a Pope that is willing to call the muslims for what they are. Unlike our politicians who like to call the muslims "peace loving".

Muslims hate the USA, even the Muslims that live here. Beware of this group. Thay will strike once more.

Your comments have made me so proud to be American. Let's kick out people of different religions. That sounds like a great idea. Why are they here anyway? It's not like we pride ourselves as being open minded or anything.

There's no such thing as "US Muslims" just Muslims and they are all bigoted towards non Muslims. The best thing the US can do to protect themselves against anti American terrorists such as Muslims is deport r hang them all for treason.
You are correct. Islam does this .. When they open a mosque, that country is now a nation of islam. They fully believe that it is islam before a country... Very discusting.. what is worse are these jailhouse muslims I see in the streets.. women converted by thier jailed baby daddy's who convertered, and now have to wear the head dress and what not.. Rediculous... i beleive it could be about peace, but the more I learna obu it, the more truth comes out, as they want all of the world to convert or be killed.

I wish everyone would stop giving so much attention to Muslims when they get upset. They are offended? Big deal. Who cares? EVERYTHING offends them.

So they don't like that the Pope baptized a Muslim? Build a bridge and get over it already. No one insults more religions around the world than Muslims.

Muslims are offended that the Pope connected Islam to violence? Are you kidding? Talk about being in denial...

Just stop giving these islamolunatics the attention they want.

Churches do like everyone... were you trying to be sarcastic.. if so.. VERY ineffective attempt. Christians kill.. well maybe.. but they certainly dont teach thier followers to kill others because they are muslim.. whereas radical sects of islam do just this.. then again, I am starting to think the religion in itself promotes the killing of non believers..
no surprise

I'm not surprised that sponsors of terrorism don't want to meet with the head of the religion of forgiveness and reconciliation.

I hear what you are saying but- the church does not promote killing the people who have lifestyles the church does not support. True, they could be more understanding, but never does a Catholic Church preach to harm others .
I believe the Muslim religion does. promote this.

When's the last time you saw a Catholic strap some TNT to themselves and decide to go into a crowd of people and, say, light things up?

Better yet, have you seen a Catholic woman, child or someone disabled do the same?

Exactly.

I think a bigger question is why are there no muslim groups standing up against what is happening in the middle east.. you hear nothing.. no protests or uprising against the sensless violence being unleashed at the hands of the muslims. I guess they actually enjoy the murders being comitted.

Now, you're talking East Side.

Why aren't "their own" doing anything to stop the violence?

If you have not noticed by now - THERE IS NOTHING OPENED MINDED ABOUT RELIGION!! That is why they can't get along. I must admit this religion issue is about the sorriest thing humans have done since they have been on this planet. Nothing has caused so much death and unhappiness as the fact that humans don't know where or how they came to earth - and won't admit this fact!
