The Democratic party is alive and well in Rome. Did you know that 8 1/2 years ago (The last time a Democrat ran for Mayor of Rome{3 Mayor elections ago} they finished 4th. Before you comment what place did you come in? Mickey Mouse came in 5th as 2 people wrote that in as a write in. YES We has a Democratic Mayor before 1959 Philip Tosti won a 2 yr term as Mayor. I really feel proud to be a Democrat in Rome. Someday a Democrat may run again in my lifetime.

With Paul as your chairman, the party will continue to go down hill. I left as soon as he became chairman. There is no way I would want to associate myself with that scumbag. There will be more leaving until they get rid of him.

You post a lot and can't spell. You spelled Doubt "Dought" and he is was spelled "hois". Another thing the same people that pulled Brown's strings now pull Fusco's. Why do you think he was forced to switch parties? They would have taken him out, that is why. Grande is party of the act to make it look like there is real competition. Grande worked very little and got the city good.

Now watch this thread get deleted too. But someone will start another one soon afterwards. RPD, if you're really a former Rome Police officer, I must admire your coming out and saying that. Everyone thinks all cops stick up for each other no matter what. I wish people could have faith in the police again.

There are only one or two people who keep whining to the moderator to remove these posts. Face it people the more you have the post deleted the more that’s going to be posted. With that said. How does one become chair of the Democratic Party with such an interesting background? If Paul is involved, or as bad as what is being posted then how did he end up chair. With everything people keep complaining about with him, then how can he even hold such a position? Apparently the party has very low standards, or they felt he was qualified to be chair. As for the person who posted under "Former PD" I don't think you are or even was an officer. You see one of the requirements for being a cop is the ability to write, and spell. I think you missed on both of those requirements.

From a previous thread that was deleted someone stated that he became chairman in a backroom meeting, without anyone on the committee knowing anything about it. The county Democratic Committee chair showed up and announced that Paul was chair. This scumbag shouldn't be chair of anything but a lazy ass losers club that beat the system, he could show everyone how to do that.

I remember reading that the person who was chair wasn't even told of this until he showed up to a meeting, and they told him Paul was now chair. The Rome committee did not even know this happened until that meeting. I was something like you said done in a backroom somewhere by some Morris in Utica. I always thought the people on the committee elected their chair, but I guess the Democrat's do thing differently in Rome.

I'm hoping before the next election that this worthless bum will be thrown out. He will continue to bring down the party and needs to replaced ASAP. What are we waiting for?

Seriously.. Does anyone know how he became chair if he was not elected by the committee people? I have been gone for a while, and missed the election. But the last thing I knew Havens or Petty was the chair. See what happens when you leave for a while. I come back and we have a Conrepublicrat as mayor? Whats up with that? I would have been better off staying in the sand box. I kinda know Paul indirectly, and surely he did not become chair based on personality, and witt. Least of all his political savy. I did not even know that Ro-Ann was out. I would be willing to bet she had something to do with making him chair through. Last I heard they were close friends. Sucks. Almost makes me want to become a Republican. Holly shit what am I saying? Be better off joining the Tea Party.

For someone who is concerned with politics I'm surprised you would use a word such as scumb bag on a public site. One more thing since when did spelling have anything at all to do with ones concern for his or her community, and or ability to lead?

No. I use to be on the democratic committee, and was there when Paul was made chair. Havens was vice chair at the time, but James Petty was chair. The committee found out that the county chair made Paul chair of the Rome party in some meeting they had in Utica. The Rome committee was never told or even had a say about it. We were just told that Morris had made him chair, and that was that. James was not told that he was no longer chair, until he showed up to a meeting at the Polish Home. He was a good guy, and did not do anything to give them cause to remove him. I know he worked his but off getting things done for the party, and what they did was wrong. What happened basically left a lot of us upset to the point where a few left the committee. What is the point of having a committee if you are not going to have a say, or a vote on who you want representing you or your party. If someone else is just going to put whom even they decide in some back room to run things, why have a committee at all. What they did, and how it was done was wrong. I saw him after it happened, and found out he and his wife had quit the party. I don't know if they are even still in town anymore, but Havens is still a chair or co-chair with Paul from what I hear. Since Paul has been chair, and from the party’s inability to find candidates to run for office. Sound to me Paul is not a very good chair, and as far as I am concerned the party has gone down hill ever since he became chair.

Because people on the committee did not want to go against Morris, and basically you don't bite the hand that feeds you. People asked how Paul got to be chair, well thats how.
