The NY Department of Health shows that Rome Hospital performs better on surgical care than Oneida and Utica hospitals: http://hospitals.nyhealth.gov/measure.php... .

It all depends on the surgeon. Good surgeon, good results. There are caring people there as well as some bad apples. But that is true of anywhere you go. Everyone must ask around about the doctor before you trust the care.

I had my daughter there and they didn't suction her lungs properly. She had to get transferred to Utica because they didn't have the equipment to treat her. She almost died. I took another child in their the other night because they were presenting swine flu symptoms. They ran every test under the sun because I had insurance and kept her there for 4 1/2 hours and then finally did the swine flu test. Then they told me there was nothing wrong with her. They way they treat their patients sucks, their aftercare is horrible. They are defiantly not clean at all. The best place I have ever had surgery was Baptist Hospital in Cooperstown.

It's like any other hospital with a failing healthcare system. There are good things and bad, as with most hospitals right now. I would have faith in the doc that wants to perform the surgery there though....after all you do continue to see him/her.

I wouldn't go there for a hangnail, they pull people off the street and ask them if they want to be a doctor or nurse there. my children have had broken bones and were sent home telling us they are fine only to call three days later to say um, you need to come back and have a cast put on. my mother-in-law was there because she couldn't breathe and they told her it was anxiety... she died the next day due to a pulmonary embolism. my neighbor was there to deliver her baby and just as the head was out a nurse pushed it back in because the doctor wasn't there yet. this kid has so many vision problems now.. don't go there, go to utica or someplace else.

Well its hard to stay current in an operating room that was built almost 40 yrs ago. The rooms are dirty there is mildew and god knows what growing in the grout in the surgical rooms. The place is a dive. As for the numbers telling all. Those numbers are compiled from satisfactino surveys filled out buy patients. You think that is an honest way of getting your facts lol. About 1 out of 50 are filled out and mailed back. So take those numbers in stride.

How does Rome Hospital treat their workers there? Do they really care about the staff? If the staff gets good treatment then the patients would too. It starts at the top and works its way down.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Sagittarius

A loved one gets hold of the wrong end of the stick today, causing endless hassle and fuss. They're likely to get upset in the process, so you have to calm them down, and that could lead to a squabble. You may also have to cope with discord when discussing family matters, with certain people getting bogged down in daft details that you think have nothing to do with the main issue.
