F.Y.I.: "Proxy marriage" has nothing to do with same-sex marriage.
A "proxy marriage" is a marriage wherein a person, known as a "proxy," stands in for either the bride or groom, or both, at the marriage ceremony. Montana allows for a man and a woman to become married there by "double proxy," which means that neither of them need to show up at the officiation in order for them to become married. Montana allows for this in order to assist people in the U.S. Armed Forces, who are serving our country overseas, to marry their sweethearts back home. This is especially important in those instances in which children are involved.
My husband and I became married by Montana Double Proxy. A company, out of Pennsylvania, called S&B, for $950. I wish that we had gone with either "A Big Sky Event," or "Dream Makers" (above)because they're each around $600 for exactly the same service, and we know several couples who have gotten married through both of them and are very happy that they did.
Proxy Marriage is a good option; and I'm very glad that the Montana State Legislature has been so generous as to allow this for those who serve the U.S. Armed Forces, and theit families, like my husband and myself.
