Woman in San Pedro bar fight sentenced

One down, one to go.

I agree with the District Attorney, this could have warranted way more prison time than 14 years. She brutally assaulted the lady and then refuses to identify the other suspect, why. The victim is going to be dealing with this for the rest of her life.

This is a bad story. A mother of 4-year-old twins drinking at a bar at 1 AM? Bars are bad scenes. That is where people get out of hand. It is just plain stupid for any parent of young children to be out at that hour in a stinking place like a bar. Regardless of the law, people need to use some sense to create a community that is a paradigm of good behavior.

the village pub is a place that attracts the scum of pedro, i know a guy name dan that gets sloshed in there almost every night, then leaves there driving drunk,hopping from bar to bar.this place is the local cholo hang-out too.

I don't understand, how people could just stand there, and watch another human being getting beat up like a rag doll.

Well, well well...let me tell you all. of course this is across the street from pv. but, again i have lived here for over 38 yrs.. and never knew there was a pub there. maybe it opens late.. who knewwww. again. A lady, a mother should not be out.

Although I may agree somewhat, STUPIDITY does not justify a vicious attack like this! After all, this is America where we have choices, right, wrong or indifferent, and the right to be out in public at a bar or wherever, without having to worry about being brutaly attacked by the "animals" who have 0 regard for the law?! THOSE PEOPLE are who we should be focusing on, so that our communities can be/stay safe.

I always thought this place attracted questionable clientele, just like Mule's. Maybe it should move to Pacific.

It's true...hard core, gang or gang wanabees, project living trash have really degraded the small harbor community that for decades was culturally balanced and harmonious...common decency and respect is really missing from those folks. They need to crawl back into the hole they came from...Where were the other people in the bar as these two maniacs pounded on an unconcious woman...disgusting.

The Village Pub is not a cholo dump - it's a pretty laid back bar where people in their late 40's go to have a cognac or martini. The young idiots tried to ruin it for us but thankfully, we got it back. If you don't know, quiet your big mouth!

When will the scum be cleaned out of San Pedro. It's like South Central with an ocean view. The best quote I have heard in a while came from a local who has lived in San Pedro for fifty years and is horrified by it's current state.

The scum will be cleaned out when WE the, good, honest, hardworking, law abiding, citizens get together, get involved and make a stand and quit being AFRAID!!!!! If we keep quiet and keep looking the other way, "they" will take over!!!!!!

Ask yourself, those of you who have lived here for decades,what have you done to preserve Pedro? Did you say you were afraid to go downtown like so many others and thereby allow this trash to rule our streets? Did you sit at home and let the punks tell you what parts of town you could go to after dark? When Rudy wanted to build the projects, did you not protest? It's time to take a stand, Pedrans, and take our town back! Demand our police back! Demand the money we are owed from the general fund! Demand the mayor stop punishing us for not voting for him and obstructing progress! I think the point, Einstein, was that bad things happen everywhere, even in PV. People are always talking smack about what a bad place Pedro is, but this incident happened right on the PV border, where, supposedly, the "right" people live and nothing bad ever happens.

When a "Smith" goes to a place near the loading docks where a "Gomez" gets drunk, you can expect trouble. Gomez came to the bar with her fightin' buddy, looking for trouble that night. "I'll just grab Barbie's drink and kick her a$$ if she says anthing, MAN." Hey, sorry she got hurt real bad, but with two small kids, she shouldn't have been out closing down a bar. And of course those 40-ish martini drinkers know better than to jump into a fight. Glad you got your bar back, did the owner install a riff-raff detecting turnstile?
