Yeah ...

Knew this lassie once, very early on when I was in the USN, who hailed from Georgia.

Myself being the properly raised laddie, would never attempt to raise the issue of certain improprieties in public.

Well, not a few times in the past, the other guys had raised the matter of 'Georgia Peaches,' and myself being none the wiser, took that to mean 'the fruit of the tree,' having heard only a part of the conversation.

Well, said lassie and I got to joking around about things one day, and I asked her if she would show me her peaches (I was asking about the edible fruit!), and she quipped: I'll show you mine if you show me yours!!
:-))

Well of course, I caught the drift that ~that~ remark, blushed a deep red, and everybody else took to a good laugh at my expense!!

:-)

The gun nuts do go craaaazzzzzy. Then they get Alzheimer's and die. We've had hunters in our family goin back to the 1800-s but they've never been gun nuts like the ones today. Anyway today's gun nuts are always good for a laugh. We've known a few of the neo-gun nuts. They seem to be very insecure with no life and very much like to push people around. So if it makes them happy being a gun nutcake so be it. Guns aren't goin away in this country. Gun nuts and right-wing religious nutcases go hand in hand and they're not goin away either. They get their kicks thinkin they are savin the world by filling everyone's heads with their paranoia and hate. Man that's a world we don't want to be in that they're savin us from.
Going back to ~JUST~ the 1800's?

Well, gee. My European —in America— ancestry goes all the way back to 1628, where a certain Mr. Nutting founded the town of Groton, Massachusetts. Don't even get me going about the Penobscot tribe of Maine, or the Wampanoag Tribe of Mass., or the MacIntosh clan of Nova Scotia, or the Prebles of Maine.

And THAT is just getting started.

Virtually every one of those, upon acquisition of firearms, took to them with an ardor and delight akin to having just discovered fire, and treasured those tools like no tomorrow.

Now, why not just go back into the closet and play with yourself?

The 1800's ...

Wow!! There was more left wing codswallop, tripe, BS, projectionism and venom in there than any paragraph of words uttered by Soros, Franken, Clooney, or O'Donnell.

Some Nut wrote that the Clintons helped smuggle AK-47's into the country. So does that mean Gun Nuts now like the Clintons, as I have never known a true Gun Nut who said, we already have too many guns, send them back.

You probably should take care when you bury your head in the sand, that's where the kitties like to put their poop. They must be a bit more intelligent than you as they do know the difference between brains and poop. Or maybe you do have it right and you are burying the correct item, just as they do.

What a pointless article. This guy is in his 60s and finally bought his first Nagant and a shotgun. He's not a real gun collector. Why not interview a real gun collector instead of writing a bunch of biased anti-gun garbage?

Wow. Could you be any more biased and dishonest in this piece? Nice try at getting your anti-gun bias across with a little skewed and dishonest reporting. Next time, talk to a real gun collector.

The word "ass" comes to mind after reading your headline and story. Even gun collector finds gun nuts scary! Oh my! Sounds dangerous!
The only sentence with "gun nut" in your entire story is, "Gun nuts scare me, especially the cold-dead-hand types." Perhaps you can explain just what or whom this 63 year old idiot is talking about? The article fails to define "gun nut" and I'm guessing not even Leo knows what "cold-dead-hand-types " means.
I want to congratulate John Bogert for a achieving in writing what only one other man has ever achieved in any profession. That man Is Jerry Sienfeld. The achievement is writing about and getting paid for NOTHING.
I wonder if by "gun nuts" he means folks like the NYPD.

The NYPD has a track record of shooting unarmed black men, with Sean Bell being their latest victim.

Strangely enough, they do not consider guns in the hands of the NYPD evil, even though the NYPD has a track record of shooting unarmed black men.
