The pot calling the kettle black... they both need to go HOME. Claims of unfairness? Here are just a few of the costs to you if you are reading this. Costs that should be happening in Mexico. If you are reading this; is the below fair to you, and this is only her part...

Court costs to try this case
Four kids taxing our schools
Sleeping pills paid for by Medi-Cal
Emergency services for the accident
Disregard for our several of our nations laws
Displaced workers from her presence in the U.S.
Probable welfare costs now, and future costs when her 16 year old soon has Keeds.

Now his part...

Mexican national with no license, no insurance and no englais
District attorney costs
Interpreter costs
Court costs
filing fees
DUI and reckless driving
Emergency costs
Displaced college student workers
Disregard for our several of our nations laws

And she wants this Idiot to turn and look at her suffering. How about she turn and look at our suffering and our lower standard of living since the arrival of these two parties and many more!
The Idiot, Antonio Mateo, who can't possibly pay the $900,000 judgement is going to stick it to this lady and bail out of here. Poor Mrs. Ontiveros is about to find out what happens to legal citizens here in America everyday.

How ignorant can you both be. A man was killed, a wife lost her husband and his children will never see their father again. Now here is some ignorance. This man was working two jobs, paying taxes not standing at a corner or off ramp holding a sign that says homeless please help, or standing by the bank or store reeking of alcohol begging for money to support his or her addiction. This man was here legal, just like our forefathers working and living the American Dream, not living off the Government on food stamps, selling drugs or taking things out of your home or garage or molesting your children which brings me to this. A National sting on sexual predators a few months back netted over twenty suspects all of which none had a hispanic surname. Shame on you and God see's all.

The killer was illegal, plain and simple. If he'd had been a God fearing, law abiding man, he would NOT have drank a case of beer, driven, and killed him. And, he would NOT have broken US law and been in the country.

So take your pious bullcrap and take a hike.

Do you know this immigrant personally?how do you know he pays his taxes, besides the small amount taken out of his check? How do you know he isn't a thief or drug dealer? People don't walk arond with a sign on their back saying i'm a thief/drug dealer/illegal immigrant!if this were the case he'd be in mexico driving drunk somewhere killing someone else.Too bad this other persons life was only worth 5 years in prison and we've got to pay for his three hot meals and nice warm bed at no expense to him.We all lost this case.

No, you take a hike. Yes the man that caused this young man to die was illegal and I do not support nor condone that. Ignorant as you are and your definate racial response you seem to get off the subject of someone losing their father, husband and a person of God. This country is a melting pot of different races, cultures and backgrounds. Evidently yours is from a lack of education and civil culture.

The victim's wife won't see a dime of that $900,000 - instead the American taxpayer will foot the bill.

I work near where this young man died. I saw the unbelievable destruction that was caused by this accident. It was like someone had thrown a bomb in the intersection where this accident occured. I saw this poor man laying in the bushes where he was thrown from his vehicle still bloody from the impact that was so terrible that his body tore the passenger door from its hinges on his vehicle and you talk about money. What is wrong with this world. We belong to Gods Earth, it does not belong to us.

Where does it say that the man who was killed was illegal? Sounds like a hard working guy who had just bought a house and was doing his best for his family. A very sad story,

John B. your post is an embarrassment. I voted for prop 187 and am all for sending illegals back to the country they came from but idiotic ramblings like yours are less than helpful.

John B, How do you know the Victim's wife is not a citizen of the US? The article only indicates Mateo is here illegally. Did I mis-read it or did you mis-read it?

This is total injustice!! You leave a party drunk and fly thru an intersection going a minimum of 95 mph and slam into a car with a man going home from work (who had a wife and 4 kids to support) and he is killed and the judge only makes the drunk pay with a 5 year sentence?? Even though the man was driving on a suspended license, and is an illegal from Mexico?? What the hell is the matter with the judge in this case?? Too crazy for words!!

All you folks seem to talk about is money and nationality. This is a human life. White, Black, Hispanic, Indian or whatever. This society is sick. I employ many hispanics and they are the the hardest working people, reliable and respectible people that I have ever met. I stay away from hiring whites because they are lazy and think they are far above anyone else.

It's a sad world we live in right now. Driving 95mph, drunk, running a red light, killing someone, and only getting 5 years. The drunk will also get out much sooner too. It doesn't seem right.

Right on, Bill Anthem! I totally agree. And whites conveniently forget that California was originally part of Mexico. Mexicans didn't move, the border did. The white man is the actual immigrant. If they don't like it, they need to go back to Europe where they're origins are.

I am amazed that you imbeciles are "debating" illegal immigration in your own juvenile way. There are too many people killed by drunk drivers in America, whether they are "legal" or not. The question is why Americans tolerate drunk driving. People with multiple DUI convictions are still out in public; we're almost begging them to kill someone. In other countries, this crime is taken seriously. In many European nations, a first conviction mean a loss of license for 10 years and a three year prison term. A second conviction results in a lifetime ban on driving and 10 years in prison. Needless to say, they don't have as much of a problem with drunk driving deaths as does the U.S. I think Americans tolerate drunk driving because 1) it's part of our redneck culture; and 2) the big liquor companies like it that way.
