only these goverment idiots go back to the same rip-offs hoping for better results. screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me. why would you go and do biz with the same company without first getting a full refund for last years failure BEFORE even considering hiring them again? anyone in the private sector would be fired for this kind of rational(or, the fix is in???).

The firework show is a waste of money. I won't even go anymore with my family. 90% of the people there are not even Torrance residents and it is way to crowded. craig wrote: only these goverment idiots go back to the same rip-offs hoping for better results. screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me. why would you go and do biz with the same company without first getting a full refund for last years failure BEFORE even considering hiring them again? anyone in the private sector would be fired for this kind of rational(or, the fix is in???).

Curious about Don
|
Don Karg - To those of us new to Torrance, who don't have any history - what the heck are you talking about - either spill the beans or go away - I can't deal with the riddles all the time...
As far as the fireworks - I tend to agree with Craig and Roger on this one.... those thousands of dollars up in smoke are better spent on fixing Torrance blvd.

$25,500 on a 20 min firework display and our schools are taking a huge budget cut!

Necessary Duty

Forget the fireworks show. It just brings in the criminals from other cities. Cancel the production and let the local cops and firemen enjoy the holiday with their families and friends at home.

Just make fireworks legal in Torrance again. It's funny to me they are legal in all the ghetto neighborhoods around Torrance? Oh lets take them away from the civilized people and keep them legal in places where people fire guns in the air? lol I guess when I think about trying to stop them in the ghetto, it would be impossible. Being illegal in Torrance and someone attempts to do it, you have everyone on that street calling the police with the swat team showing up, maybe a helicopter too. I used to love when they were legal in Torrance when I was a kid. Most of the the things that were fun have slowly been taken away over the years.

Keep Fireworks Out
|
Out of the Park with the Non Torrance Crowd Out of your home or neighborhood. Fires and injury. Overtime to the Cops and the Fire people Save money and pay down the taxes and Torrance debt. If we keep the Fireworks maybe LA will annex us New City Manager its time folks. Maybe recruit form Phoenix, Arizona the state of our next President.

Wow, nice N.I.M.B.Y. attitude. Any of you go to Redondo and walk on the beach? Walk in Palos Verdes? Go to the fireworks shows in other cities? Or do you all just sit in your homes and gripe. I have lived in the South Bay for 51 years and people have always gone to events in different cities. It evens out in the long run. So go or don't go, but stop raining on everyone else's parade.

I go to Torrance Beach. I work in Torrance. I live in Torrance. Tried to surf once in Palos Verdes but the locals let the air out of my tires and threw rocks at me.

Where do you think you live? Beverly Hills? Torrance doesn't have any poor neighborhoods or any gang violence? What a lovely set of rose colored glasses you must wear. I hope they're bulletproof in case you get assaulted in Paradise.

Bang Bang

Got banged once for a finale with almost a 50% failure rate. Torrance says, bend me over and bang me again for over $25,000. Torrance really likes getting banged doesn't it?

I'm from there lol not Torrance P.O. Harbor Gateway. You can disagree all you want. You're not from my neighborhood.

Safe and sane fireworks should be sold in Torrance again. Banning them only opened up new markets for the less safe variety.
There are a couple of other compelling reasons to sell them as well. First, they generate important funds for local non-profits. The sort of micro-community groups that need funds the most. Second, they bring neighborhoods together on the 4th of July when those fireworks are lit off. That's a good thing in our increasingly isolated lives.
What about it Torrance? Care to save the city some money and bring back local sales of safe fireworks? Anyone in City Hall got the huevos to stand up to the fire department and police unions?

Let me put it this way. Gardena or Hawthorne is no Torrance and Torrance is no PV. Huh wrote: <quoted text> "all the ghetto neighborhoods around Torrance". Where do you think you live? Beverly Hills? In the incorporated areas they do and in the area around North Torrance they do!!!

There are thugs & honest people in all parts of the South Bay. Higher income does not always equal higher moral standards. Just people putting on a better facade. Some of the worst criminals live in PV. They just commit different types of crime for higher stakes.
