Can anyone provide a historic map of Bloody 11W prior to the four lane and was this the route Hank Williams used on his fatal trip to WV?
I traveled this road over the weekend from North of Morristown to Bristol and was rather smooth and no signs of such evidence this was a disterous road.

Teresa wrote: I actually have the record of "11W Bloody Hwy". The wreck happened where First Baptist Church of Bean Station is located. What I think is ironic was that just prior to the accident (maybe a week or so before)a mock accident had been done by emergency workers to see how to handle such a bad accident with so many injuries. Jimmy Peoples is mentioned on the record and I spoke with him several years ago about it. It is very interesting now but so sad for the people and families involved. I have a friend looking for that record and we can't find who sings it. Do you know who sings it? And any chance you might want to sell the one you have. Or copy it even??

Bloody 11W actually ran from Rutledge thru Rogersville. The bus accident occured about 5 miles west of Bean Station. The new 4 lane has helped cut down on these accidents. But starting in Bean Station you will find many cutoffs which were parts of the old road. A keen eye will see them.... but if you do take some of those older roads you need to travel 40mph....anything faster than that and you will experience what others have experienced. The old 11w is very narrow and filled with curves....imagine going 55 and meeting a farmer on his tractor going 5 mph or a 18 wheeler going 60 and in the middle of the road. I remember that happening frequently!
