Who thinks we'll have school on Wednesday?

I think we will go back tomorrow on a delay--possibly 2 hour. My road is completely clear but it has been plowed. Don't know about the backroads in other places. Anyone else?

I think so too. T-caps are Thursday, and it's the makeup. They won't have them out any longer. They were only allowed three more days, last Friday.

My neighbor's driveway hasn't been shoveled or anything and it still looks bad. Guessing back roads look the same. I can see being out tomorrow but back on Thursday for sure.

We still can't get our vehicles up or down our driveway. I'm guessing out tommorrow then go back Thursday. I just wish they would make up their minds though so I can make arrangments for my kids.

T-Caps aren't Thursday. Just because they have used the snow days, does that mean they will go to school no matter what? If the roads are still icy, they cannot go, no matter how many days they miss.

Wednesday night the low is supposed to be 28 (that's a Knoxville forecast), or maybe colder here. That means that by Thursday morning all the melting snow that has been running across the otherwise clear roads will be frozen patches of black ice.

Following a high of 48 on Thursday then a low of around 38 on Thursday night, the run-off won't freeze back so paved roads that have been graded shouldn't be iced.

So I predict... school will be out Thursday but open on Friday, in an effort not to lose any more days that might have to be made up.

Just my guess.

I was wondering that, too. We aren't even through February and mid-March, when we've gotten some of the worst snow storms ever, in years past.

So at what point will they have to "make up" days? I can't see kids going to school in mid-June, it's just not right, lol!

In reference to the TCAPs on Thursday comment, I think the person was referring to the TCAP writing assessment. It was originally supposed to be given today, but the make up day is Thursday.

With being out tomorrow, we are officially out of snow days. We had 10 this year and tomorrow is our 10th day. I'd like to know how the decision will be made in regard to making up future days. Ms. Britton said that it was a board decision, but will the board consult parents, or be told what decision to make, and then vote on that one. I feel sure there is more bad weather coming. I think the board would be wise to address this as quickly as possible.

Anyone have a serious opinion on how they should be made up?

They will take out the single day holidays that we usually get out for, spring break should be the same, and I am guessing school will release for summer on time as usual.

A friend of mine said that almost all roads in surgoinsville are still pure ice. Especially Stanley Valley and the backroads near there.

Well Hawkins county put our kids on a two hour delay tomorrow, even though most of the back roads still have very large patches of ice and snow in areas. I'd like for them to take a ride down Devil's Nose Road and look me in the eyes and explain to me how a bus traveling over a snow/ice covered bridge is a good idea. I'm sorry they did not think ahead to put more snow days back, but that is not my problem. They should think of the safety of the kids instead of worrying over how to make these days up.

I haven't been to any back roads, but if they are still ice they should cancel school for tomorrow. Today might have been our last snow day, but surely they can make it up by making us go on a single-day holiday sometime soon like presidents day, since it is coming up.

The Writing Assessment isn't until Friday, so I don't see why we should go tomorrow if the roads are still icy.

The writing assessment isn't a big deal anyways, writing is easy.

I was referring to the Tcaps. It's the makeup day for them on Thursday seeing as how the test was scheduled for Tuesday.
