As announced in the review, the hawkins county clerks office has suspended sat. hours due to the court house renovation. That is all well and good. It keeps people safe. My question is this: Has the pay for the County clerks office employees been reduced to reflect this reduction in hours worked or is the tax payers still handing them the same money for free? Just wondering where my tax dollars is going.

I would imagine the clerks will be working the same number of hours. They were probably scheduled a half day during the week if they had Saturday duty. That's how most businesses do. Why don't you just call the Clerk's office and ask instead of automatically assuming the worst? I bet those gals aren't wasting time like you are.

Thats what im asking. The only hour changes posted were to eliminate the sat hours. If they post all changes then no other days were increased. It is not my duty as a tax payer to call and ask, it is there job as a county office to notify the public of all office hour changes. So far the only changes anounced was that the office is temporarily closed on sat. Im asking if the expenditure of said office has decreased to reflect the reduction in hours.
thats not good

maybe they work salary and not hourly
if they r paid salary then we are getting shafted. add it up. tax dollars down the drain, if this is the case. if so, cut their pay and use it stabalize the budget. when they reopen, reinstate their pay as before. only fair.

Is no smoking gun...unlike judge taylor wanting to extend hours and then doubled the taxpayer cost...when they added the two sat half days...they used existing staff dufus...noticed church hill still open... if county mgt had a half a brain they would have had the contractor to leave walkway into the back of the court house..which is where the sat customers usually enter...so go get something else to stir ...i cannot believe you must be some petty wannabe politician or election loser..which one? people needing tags on sat can still get them at the CH office.

Okay, think this through slowly. The clerks scheduled for a Saturday were probably not working overtime. They were probably only working 1/2 day on Tues, for example. Now to handle the increase in weekday traffic, that clerk will work all day Tuesday. Thus no decrease in hours. And it sounds to me like the Clerk has notified the public of office hour changes - didn't you already acknowledge that? Did you want a personal phone call to explain this? The decrease in expenditure is probably a small decrease in the electric bill for which the taxpayers should be happy. Gee, walk on down the street and see what else you can try to stir up.

Would one not simply call or visit the office to get a straight answer on this?
