Question: What's with the Teacher's? The teacher's that are here are not going anywere until they retire.

And if any new out of state come here, they're not going to live here. just like a large percent of the W-C-H/Tug River Health staff don't stay/live in McDowell. They drive.

I had heard the same story about the building being converted for teachers. I didn't understand that concept as most teachers already have their own houses/apts. Why teachers? I seriously doubt that anyone with any class would want to live there becasue of all of the trash/dopeheads who hang out on the streets. You can't get into the post office or the Kwik Serv unless you wade through them.

How about turn it into a gym for everyone, there is more people in this county than teachers. There is nothing for teens to do in this place and then people wonder why they end up on dope

Sadly this is true. There is NOTHING for young adults to do in this town. and Drugs are so easily accessed here (not saying you can't get them anywhere else) because the communities are so small
Need more businesses in the area besides bars and gambling spots

I have many friends that have said they have tried drugs out of boredom so what the other post is saying is not wrong.

Many of the new younger teachers live out of the county from what I know..... With few exceptions.... This is why this is being done, which I see as a positive to bring people into the county.... Besides there is ample parking right beside the building... Building or bringing anything to the county is positive....
I think lots don't remember the movie Fields of Dreams... "If you build it they'll come" you got to build it so they will come.... Rather it new apartments, a new business or 2 or 3, update water systems, and even one of the 4 lane roads..... Now maybe you might understand what I mean...then again probably not knowing some of ya'll...

They went belly-up.

If apartments are build at the old Best building, The rent will be too high for people to afford. Just think what the Heat/A-C will cost.

You are right! I was thinking about accepting a teaching position there this year until I went to check things out. What a scared place to be in.I couldnt believe what goes on in that small Town.I was thinking a small Town in the Country.And was thinking that I would love it,was thinking about how relaxing it would be.Was I ever fooled,when I drove there and started checking things out.I wouldnt stay there overnight,nuch less live there. I saw the Police several times going by,But not one time did I see them trying to clean the Street people off the Streets.I cant see anyone moving there to work. The place is to scarey for me.And I told the Lady at the BOE Office,Thanks for the offer,But No Thinks too.

How on earth are they ever gonna get the moldy smell out of the building? Last time I was in there to look at furniture, I had to leave because of the odor. They would have to tear the thing down and start from the ground and go up to be able to make anything of it.
I also agree with the above post about the obsession with the Riggins guy. Every thread seems to go towards him, or this one or that being gay. There is also an obsession with Mr. H. Come on people, give it a break! Because of the stupid posts on here about the same crap, a lot of people don't even come here anymore. Accept the fact that other people have opinions that are different from yours. Learn to respect the opinion of others, and they just might respect yours.

Are you sure that you're a teacher with your spelling and capitalization skills? Ever hear of contractions? They contain apostrophes.
The schools are probably better off not getting you for a teacher.
