ralph, one fact must be faced. this country is fast becoming a socialist country under congress and liberals. the theme taught is someone else is responsible to provide for us. this is idea where the "the city" needs to provide for them comes from. time to get real and go back to the 1800's. no retirement, no medical insurance, or walefare and the lists go on. sound great? well, our great grand parents made it through that and they had NO fast food places. oh God how did they live? these poor children..... here they are in high school and will be out in the world on their own in a short time all begging on street corners because no one is beating their door down forcing a high paying job on them! all posting in the paper the city will not provide for their every wim.. pardon me ... i must go throw up...

Yes, it is interesting to read stuff coming from kids who are products of our current educational system. The City government is now to be responsible for feeding the kids. Not only that, but also for deciding what is healthy for them. LOL.

First of all, the City government is unable to run its own daily business. But it is NOT the role of government to provide for you, regardless of what you are taught in school. Once you start sucking on the government breast it is hard to deal with the real world of self-sufficiency.

Here's an idea--build a program at school in which all you students petition the local fast food places for better, healthier foods. Tell them that their constant offerings of cheeseburgers, fried chicken, French fries, onion rings, cheese sauces, grease, fat, salt & sugar is no longer acceptable.

Only you can truly determine what you put down your throat. Restaurants--even fast food restaurants--will give you what you want if you tell them what that is. If burgers & fries stop selling, they will figure it out. Help them out. Demand different menus with better but tasty food. It CAN be done and fast food restaurants are capable of doing it.

Mr Spinelli is correct.Parents need to educate their kids and teach them to put a simple lunch togather. That is their JOB ! Thats all this is about. Not about the government.( Gun mentals answer for everything).Petitions are just time consuming and these kids will have graduated by the time anything is done.Parents, take your children home.Edu cate and love them .

Why not provide FREE nutritious meals for ALL students at EVERY school? If USA can afford to flush trillions $$$$$ down the Iraq and Afghan sh1tholes it can damn well afford to feed it's children.

Ever notice how something is stupid until one of the "popular" kids or a celebrity does it, then it's the thing to do. The majority of kids today are sheeple waiting to have someone tell or show them what's the newest, best thing. Can't wait until one of generations "heroes" shows up somewhere with a brown bag lunch, then you won't be able to spot a kid without one.

I agree with Mr. Spinelli.

How about some personal accountability? We all have CHOICE and that is what our country is about. If I want to eat healthy, I have that choice and if I want to eat crap, well, I have that choice too.

Although, I do think that some towns allow too many fast food restaurants.

Good for the student for speaking his mind though. And yes, please continue to speak up!

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Pisces

Are you feeling fraught? It certainly seems that way, perhaps because you've got far too much on your plate and not nearly enough time to tackle it all. Do yourself a big favor and start with whatever is most urgent, otherwise you'll waste time by dithering or getting caught up in trivial tasks. Above all, don't get into a panic because that will squander valuable time and energy.
