Wasn't a hyroglyph found telling the story of the parting of the red sea and how the army was drowned?

Hieroglyph...sorry.

Christa, no there was no Hierglyph. It seems rather odd to me that there is no mention in Egyptian History or in the Anchient History of any other culture( other than the Jew's of course) that the Jews were enslaved to the Egyptians. There is no mention of the Ten Plagues of Egypt in any other culture's history, absolutely none. There is no other record of the Red Sea parting and an army drowning as the Jews flee from this army. I find it impossible to believe that after the Jews that fled Egypt actually witnessed the Ten Plagues and the parting of the Red Sea would melt all the gold that they had and make a golden calf when Moses went off to talk to God. I find it equally convenient that the Tablets that the Ten Commandmants were written on were broken.

Exodus 1:8 A king arose in Egypt who knew not Joseph. Why? Because king Ahmose destroyed Heliopolis, Egypt where Joseph had died 13 years earlier, Jesse. Thutmose I was the pharaoh who tried to kill Moses. Princess Hatshepsut saved infant Moses life. You have no belief in God but pharaoh Amenhotep III received the Tel-Amarna letters from the Canaanites stating the Haribu (Hebrews)had attacked Canaan 40 years after the pharaoh of the Exodus Thutmose III had died.

The Tablets were broken because Moses was mad at the Children of Isreal. Then Moses went back up on the Mountain and went through the same process again and came down with unbroken tablets.

Jesse, Do you not consider Biblical documentation historical accounts? Egyptian history to this day is very dense and mysterious. The tombs and pyramids themselves still house many mysteries that we have yet to solve to this day. We witness things everyday that reflects on biblical history yet we still doubt and put everything else before our spiritual needs. Why would you think the jews with there gold would be any different? Maybe they had post traumatic stress syndrome? lol. I myself have had doubts. I am not trying to debate for the purpose of argument. I just thought you might need a different viewpoint to ponder upon.
You might look at some of the research that physicist have actually documented in favor of creation. One of the references i find interesting is the fact that jesus utilized aseptic technique. Bacteria was not discovered until centuries later. The energy of the sun and the alignment of certain stars have been found accurate by scientist utilizing equipment that was not available during the time of jesus, yet exact in its reference by Jesus. |

A WELL RENOWNED SCIENTIST FOUND HIMSELF ONE DAY WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK TO GOD ONE ON ONE.
"LORD," HE SAID."WE HAVE DISCOVERED HOW IT WAS THAT YOU CREATED LIFE FROM NOTHING,SO WE DON'T NEED YOU ANYMORE." "REALLY," THE LORD REPLIED."THAT'S INTERESTING. MIND SHOWING ME WHAT YOU CAN DO?" "WITH PLEASURE," THE SCIENTIST SMIRKED, AND REACHED TOWARD THE GROUND. "HUH UH," THE LORD SAID AT ONCE."GET YOUR OWN DIRT." |

i find it hard to believe that jews were even in Egypt at all. |

Actually, if you study the actual documented history Egypt there is serious doubt that there were the massive flux of Hebrew slaves as depicted in the bible. Assuming that the enslavement and exodus occurred during the Middle Kingdom, as thought by certain biblical references including the building of two cities for Ramses, there is a plethora of information from that period. None of said information refers to massive amounts of Hebrew slaves or to a mass exodus. Certainly, there is no literature from that time that points to the plagues that supposedly rained down on Egypt that were described in the bible.

It wasn't a MAN who parted the sea.
|

In my readings I found where the translation of the bible (several times) made a mistake. IT is not the red sea but the REED SEA. The ebb and flo of it allowed them to pass.

You're all wrong
the answer to the parting of the sea??? A TSUNAMI...it's quite possible (after seeing the footage of the southeast Asian tsunami of 2004) that water was drawn away (displacement caused by an earthquake and tsunami buildup)during Tsunami Initiation and Amplification -- giving time for the Israelites to cross -- and then caused the Egyptians to drown when the Tsunami finally struck. During the Indonesian Tsunami of 2004, seawater was pulled away from the coastline as much as one mile -- only to rush toward the coast minutes later as a tsunami wall. Please go to PBS.org , watch the WAVE THAT SHOOK THE WORLD. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/tsunami/anatomy.... ..launch the Interactive flash presentation, click on "COLLISION WITH COAST" and click on the VIDEO 1 tab to view. This is a very, VERY plausible explanation of for the Parting of the Red Sea |

Bad translation , The Reed Sea (or Sea of Reeds) , is a possible translation of the Hebrew phrase Yam Suph . Non believers will always be without faith that was always a choice. Look for your own proof
|

Jack I agree. NO EVIDENCE> But it is known also that Egyptians kept detailed records EXCEPT when they lost. They did not record things if they didn't win. |

james hoffmeier's book, israel in the sinai deals with this topic in an easy to follow, even handed fashion. it's from the archaeological perspective, and clearly references both archaeological sites and egyptian textual evidence on the topic.
just to summarize; the sea in the bible is yam suph, the sea of reeds. it's a clearly attested marshy area that existed on egypt's eastern frontier. there are still bitter lakes and dry lake beds in the area. as to whether it is possible for a shallow marsh to be blown dry (or even a lake, or bay) the answer is yes. there are several places in the world where this has been documented as happening (mobile bay, where i used to live, used to have this happen occasionally). whether this happened in exactly the fashion that exodus recounts, is something that can't be determined archaeologically. are there documents from egypt that detail the plagues? perhaps. there are certainly papyri that detail things that sound like the plagues (darkness, river runs with blood, flies, death...) but whether these are the plagues of the bible? who knows. are there records of a pharaoh or his army drowning? there is a record that has been taken by some to indicate a pharaoh drowning, but this interpretation is by no means universally accepted. it seems to refer instead to a crocodile pool in a location that isn't anywhere near the reed sea area, so it's probably not a drowning pharaoh. the account in exodus doesn't seem to say that pharaoh drowns, either. it specifies that it is the army of pharaoh that gets caught up. as has been mentioned elsewhere, the egyptian army never lost a battle, just ask them! you won't find any account that shows egypt losing in battle, ever. they just didn't write things out that way. so, no records of the egyptian side of things. as to who the pharaoh of the exodus was... that's pretty hotly debated. most scholars pick some place in the 18th dynasty, but some go for earlier dynasties. short answer is, we don't know. fun topic though! |
