I would like to hear why so many of you in the City of Rockwall are not for the annexation of this area? Why not have ALL OF ROCKWALL looking good..this is an area that has long been forgotten.Seems like its time to do the right thing ANNEX it and put and end to all the years of neglect.Your thoughts ?

This area is surrounded by a new hospital, medical offices and so on.I just can't understand why we wouldn't want to improve and control what would be built later in the future.
As it stands right now if you have the funds you can build whatever you desire and the city has no control.
Do you want your children riding in the school bus everyday passing this area with liquor stores and crime infested apts? The LRE area is BAD ..if we don't Annex this area IT WILL GET WORST. Lets think about this issue and do what's right.

LRE??? What and where is that? First of all, how do the residents and business owners of LRE (?) feel about this? Second, the beer, wine and liquor stores are here to stay. There is a steady stream that has engulfed every community along the I30 corridor. That is the fault of the voters that they were snookered into believing that the alcohol vote was good for our communities. "Control" is a very strong word that most people don't like. Annexing for the betterment of the community and the citizens of LRE is much more appealing. If you continue to through the "control" word around, it will never happen.

What makes you think that the word CONTROL is any different from ENFORCE? I believe they pretty much mean the same.Lake Rockwall Estates is located just outside the Rockwall city limits.I as a property owner am for turning this area around into a Clean and Safer place to call home.
This area has been without any kind of codes or city services long enough ! Myself and other homeowners seem to be losing ground as far as wanting to see some kind of improvement in this area. Are we suppose to just pack and leave or at least TRY to get something done for this area ? I should think that this ( Annexation) plan would be good for myself and other property owners that I have spoken to.Its a light at the end of the tunnel.

We are six days from the Annexation of Lake Rockwall Estates..the Mayor of Rockwall Mr. Cecil holds the future of this area in his hands.Since the council is split he will be the one to cast the most important vote.If he cares about the people and not about the pocket books he will do the right thing.
We need changes in this area...please don't look the other way.Its time for a better way of living in this donut hole.Growth is all around this area why do you keep ignoring LRE.. we want to be a clean and good neighborhood also.

You can try the web site City of Rockwall I'm pretty sure that they will have something on this matter.
Also the City Council will meet this coming Monday Feb.2 to decided if they want to spend money on this area..I understand this will be a heated issue because of the split council.. leaving the tie breaker to our one and only Mayor Cecil.A couple of reporters will be there to cover this issue.Lets see if the city council throws help our way. OMG we sure need it.

Sounds like (at least on this board) that the LRE citizens want this pretty bad. They want to be included with the Rockwall government. Mayor Cecil is doing a great job. I don't blame your desire to be connected with this city.

Not only do we want this..we sure in heck NEED this.I myself have been waiting for this to happen for THREE LONG YEARS..hopefully we (homeowners) will have to wait no more ! City of Rockwall needs to come in this area and get the ball rolling and start enforcing codes and setting the ground work for a cleaner and better looking LRE.

Tomorrow Feb.2 2009 at 6:00 pm will be the day that LRE homeowners will find out if there is hope for their area.
I strongly urge if you are a homeowner and want changes for your neighborhood PLEASE PLEASE attend this meeting.Let your voices be heard. If the annexation doesn't pass.. at least we will have our voices heard. Not that that really matters to them (council). At this point they see only dollars signs..I see a better LRE for me and my family.

The vote was 6-1 in favor of annexation the finally reading will be on Feb 12. It feels good to have some kind of hope for us here in LRE.

Congrats to all. I had some relatives that lived there many years ago. Even back then, they needed help from the city. The Rockwall City Council handles these types of issues very well. I am sure you will see fast results.

Yes.. the next day after the meeting I saw zoning and planning, enviromental, and code compliance out here. People will see that this is not a game and IT WILL GET CLEANED UP. So you either clean up your area or City of Rockwall will be breathing down your neck.YEAAAAAA
