Our family of 6, now 5, lost our brother in this tragedy. We are the children of a career firefighter, ourselves, our father was a Firefighter for Silver Spring for almost 30 years in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Our brother is now in heaven with our father, who was there with our mother, waiting with open arms. The family would like to express our thoughts, gratitude and prayers to the injured firefighters, and their families, and ask that donations be made on Tim's and their behalf to HEROES, Inc. Our prayers go out also to everyone touched by this tragedy. He was a free spirit, a dearly loved brother, son, uncle and friend. He loved his job as a surveyor, and believed in hard work. We will miss him deeply.

Lisa, my heart does go out to you and your family. My brother in law is with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue and was there that night helping put the fire out. He had come home and told us about the story. You and the injured firefighters will be in my prayers. Keep your head up and know that your brother is in a great place especially with your mother and father.

Tim was a lifelong, dear friend of mine. We were soulmates from the day we met in February of 1968. Words cannot adequately describe the loss that I feel. Tim was a kind, sweet soul who never hurt anyone in his life, and never uttered an unkind word to anyone in his life. He loved and treasured those in his life who loved him. My deepest regret is that his death was so unlike his life, causing pain and damage to others.

His loss leaves a gaping hole in the fabric of my life. I will take comfort in the fact that he is now with the Lord, his soul at peace for eternity. I will also take comfort with the many, many happy memories we made together. I will miss his laugh, his smile, his company, and most of all his friendship until we meet again.

My thoughts and prayers got out to the all the brave firefighters (and their families) who answered the call to danger and fearlessly rushed into harms way to try to rescue him. Tim would have been grateful for your faithful call to duty. I would like to wish each of the injured firefighters a speedy and full recovery. God bless you all.

I apologize for not mentioning the tragic loss in this fire. It was a gross oversight and was in no way intentional.
My thoughts and prayers go out to ALL of those affected.
