It is likely because of the holiday, but there is a resurgence of interest and concern about the killing of a young man who had everthing to live for. A thread that began Feb. 5 and was last visited on Aug. 11 is alive again, thanks to the comments of big one five, Slalppy Sanchez and Melanie. Way to go, people, the killings that go on in Hempstead (my hometown growing up) should be scrutinized and criticized among the village's ne'r-do-wells, plus even to the Police Department, if that is warranted. Let the holiday in Hempstead be red from the holly and bows, not the blood of innocent victims.

Slappy, we're talking that one kid playing handball, I believe, and minding his own business. Sure, there are those victims who were not that innocent. I am sorry to say that the shootings will go on, even if the Hempstead P.D. got more involved. Don't blame the police. It is almost impossible to stop a scourge or tsunami, which is what we got here.

Not saying that's the case with the handball kid, but 9 times out of 10 they're not innocent.

Boy, I'm glad I'm not living in Hempstead where I grew up, Slappy. The situation sounds like a war zone, except you don't know who the enemy is until he's got his gun on you. Some way to exist. I pray that things will clear up, at least somewhat, so that innocent people can live without fear every day and night. My prayers are with them.
