I don't disagree with you SLIC - perhaps in this situation the guy who did the shooting didn't like the commotion outiside his house that late at night- you know "what will the neighbors think?"

We may never know the truth, and as everyone is different its hard to put us in their situation.

How my ISP location -Cable one got to be Ingleside- I have no clue but ok

Tami, I am sorry about the death of your cousin. Travis is my nephew. I have know him all the 29 years of his life. He is a gentle soul and did not tell our family of the threats and harressment that he was receiving. So this also comes as quite a shock to our family. As I said in my earlier comment, this is a tragic situation. But I am so relieved that my nephew and my family is now safe from the unfortune actions of your cousin.

Cable One in Rockport? I thought Charter had all that area. I am in Aransas Pass. I at one time had Cable One here in AP, and their server was apparently in Ingleside. I use wireless now. I was on Charter for a few months in Rockport, and I think it showed Rockport as my ISP location.

Regardless of how this thing went down, it is a sad situation. All I know about it is what I have been told by others. Never knew either one of the two. Both families need lots of prayers.

TEXAS LAW, you dont have to ebter the house, or have you already forgotten the old guy who shot and killed the two robbers in the neighbors yard.. walked scot free.

Man clibing in window, if you fear for your life and that of anyone in, its a justified shooting.

In the 90's I defended a guy who got drunk climbed into a window in an apt building landed right on top of a woman sleeping in her bed. He thought he was paying a romantic visit to his girlfriend, however he had gotten so drunk, he missed her apt by one window.

We showed there no absolutely no intent to break in or attack the woman- just a simple miscalculation and he went free.

That was one of those times under the law that being drunk actually helps and it was also in his favor that he was an immigrant who could hardly speak English- it made his confusion much more believable. I believed him.

I suppose your speaking of the guy in Pasadena, TX. Only thing, his life won't ever be the same.

slic that is very true. It would be very easy. Do you think that is what took place here? I dont know anything on this but what I have read here. I wanted to say that even though it would be really easy to set up, I would like to believe that people are not that evil to follow though or do so.

Anything new about the case? Are the local police able to handle an investigation of this type?

I don't know anything other than what I have read. My wife and son both work in Rockport, and neither of them have heard anything. We lived in Rockport from July until December, then moved back to Aransas Pass.

I was really surprised when JH didn't get prosecuted for shooting those two in Pasadena. From the conversation he had with the 911 dispatcher, I was afraid he may have pushed the envelope a little. Not that I wanted to see him prosecuted, but I know of a couple cases in East TX that didn't turn out quite as his did. I would think a lot of it would be how hard the DA pushed the issue.(or how influential the victim's family is)

Steve,
Why do you have it out for the home owner? Are you a liberal non-beleiver in gun rights? What do you say the home owner should have done? You don't say anything. You don't say anything about Lenny's actions. Like it was ok to threaten for months and then go take action. All you say is "this needs to be investigated" like it wont be, and I can tell you'd like to see the man who used his gun to protect himself/property/roommate do time for it. What's your problem?

Pandora - Ive said who I am- so instead of hiding behind an anonymous screen name - you come out and be upfront with who you are. That's how I deal with people.

I have heard things as an attorney in this case that led to the opinion that it needs to be investigated. That's all and I let the DA know that. My opnion is only that when someone dies -gets shot-there needs to be a really full invetigation.

Now let's deal with your attack. I am the one who.along with Judge Adams, has been advocating that Aransas County ask the legislature for our own District Attorney. Why? Because we are too lenient here on criminals. Many criminal cases never come close to prosecution. I have a sex offender and have had several serious drug clients who never went to court.

Although most counties with 12,000 or more people have a DA - we dont even have a regular office. This means crime victims have to take off work and go to Sinton to talk to a prosecutor - unless they happen to come at the right time and catch one.

I have said before thre should be NO probation for anyone who commits burglary of a habitation, and I personally agree and believe that someone breaking into a house in general to commit a crime ought to be shot and killed. THat doesn't mean that there shouldn't be an investigation. I have been in courts when repeat hard drug sellers were getting probation -again and I have complained.

What I know about the case - raises questions - and questions should be answered. The DA does not disagree with me.

Before you use terms such as liberal - make absolutely sure you understand both the meaning and the context of their use.

On several issues I am liberal, on crime I may be the most conservative person in Aransas County who actually speaks out. When I was DA in Willacy the very first burglar I asked for 20 yrs and he got 10 - here most likely he'd get probation.

Later this month or maybe early next month I will - once again with Judge Adams- go before commissioner's court and ask us to apply for a mostly state funded DA, so we can prosecute more cases and sentence more criminals more severely.

Will you be there with me Pandora.... or will you be hiding behind your computer?

Steve, funny you bring up Willacy County. We were in Port Mansfield in winter and early spring of 2007 when Guerra was DA. Man, that was a 3 ring circus.

Slic -I was the DA there and Guerra was an assistant pending his bar results ( no trials of course). He failed and I let him go.I hated it there but did convict the County Treasurer of taking $5000 of county funds for herself, and the campaign managers for the mayor and county judge for buying votes, and removed the county clerk for never coming to work --- and bragging about it. I hated it!

Guerra was friendly but very strange. He really didn't like whites as a group. As DA though he didn't prosecute or try cases. I don't know why.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Leo

You're really on the ball today so there's no danger of anyone tricking you or fobbing you off with lame excuses. If you suspect that a loved one is hiding something from you, you'll want to question them in a lot of detail. That's all very well but try not to turn it into the third degree, nor to make them feel hounded or bullied by your desire to know what's going on.
