Lesson learned: always plead not guilty and demand a jury trial. Aransas County will plea anything down to avoid an expensive trial. Money talks and b/s walks. Three years ago a criminal with a violent history and many convictions was charged with murder. The court reduced the charge all the way down to a State Jail felony -- essentially from felony 1 to felony 5 -- and the vicious criminal served a total of two years including his time in County Jail, a well-known local resort. He's now back on the street in Rockport. Sleep well, neighbors.
