The Fountains is an interesting concept. There are a number of features which are quite nice.
First, the yogurt shop! The many tables just outside the doors as well as the large grassy area are very inviting. Music is piped outside, so it is quite pleasant. I must not be the only one who likes this area as the line in the yogurt shop almost reached the door.
Secondly, there is a really inviting fire pit next to a shack restaurant in the island of the street of the outdoor mall. It almost works. I would prefer if the road were only on one side of the shack restaurants.
Thirdly, there was a live jazz band playing. Around the corner Kettlecorn was available. Another draw with many people sitting and listening.
Kids playstructures! There are jets of water that come out of the ground into miniature geysers. Kids run around and seem to enjoy cooling off. Bring your own towel. There is also a dry play area which is enclosed with a fence for parent's peace of mind.
The dancing, lit fountains move to the music. This is another visual draw. One evening kids were sitting on the perimeter of the fountain's pool getting quite wet.
There is Peet's on the opposite end from the yogurt shop. We opted for a cookie break here. In the middle there appears to be a gelato shop coming soon.
As for stores, very inviting to look at. The kitchen store had many unusual gadgets to look at. I suspect that there will be a shakeout of quite a few of these stores. It just seems to be a suboptimal time for high end shops.
I would wish for there to be more. More restaurants. Add a table with an inlaid chessboard. Maybe a wedding row with a dress shop, hair salon, makeup and nails. A travel agency for the honeymoon. Some real night life would be great--dancing, music.
Will I go back? Absolutely. I enjoy a cup of coffee, but I am not sure that I will be adding a new couch or designer t-shirt when I go.
