Inconsistency in DUI Death Verdicts?

The cases are very similar. In one, a drunk driver kills a police officer. In the other the drunk driver is a police officer.

everyday, for almost the past 3 years; i have prayed to god begging him to take this man's life. if you could see the pain in his family eyes as they wished him, no wait... HIS HEADSTONE, a happy birthday at that cemetary. ANYONE with a heart would realized that because of a cop's STUPID decission, a mother has to bond with her son through flippin memories and talking to flat peice of granit with a picture. 5 years for that??? his lawyer is a flippin idiot for defending a baby wipe like jason march. he hurt me, freinds, family. i hope that fagbag goes to jail and marries big buubaa. dont let that man out of jail please. he hurt too many people. and wen that murderer DOES get out of jail he's going to get sued for pain and sufering from all (my fellow) busriders that had to witness the death of an angel...

Jason march really did nothing wrong except driving drunk and leaving the scene of an accident. The boy should not have ran out into the road without looking. Had Jason not ran he would at most gotten one year or nothing at all. So if you want to blame him for your friends death you should be happy he ran after other wise he wouldn't have even gotten 5 years. You really should research the Penal Code and the judicial system before you post an ignorant comment.

It's been a few years, it is time for you to move on. God would want you to forgive rather than wish death.

This article indicates that in addition to being intoxicated, the driver that struck the officer was TEXTING at the time of the incident.

Either the intoxication OR the texting was sufficient distraction from safe-driving to make this man a menace. TWO distractions. Hence, the heavier sentence.

May the Maker hold the families of all involved in loving Hand.

I'm tierd of cops getting away with "murder" just because they have a badge...Who cares, most are jack ass's anyways. If the table was turned the defendent would be serving 25 to life...No, the child didn't need to look..Mr."intoxicated " and texting while driving saftey officer, should have been using good judgement and never stepped foot on the gas. I hope this man gets what he deserves. He will be a target in prision anyways:)and then I hope he gets sued for anything he has left, including any retirement and or investments. He can not get away with this. For his atterney, he is just as much as a low life as his client.

wow your stupid. in any roadway vehicles have the right-a-way. A pedestrian needs to use a cross walk. Him being an Officer had nothing to do with anything. If an Officer commits a crime they receive the same punishment. The thing is most criminals try to fight their case and get even larger sentences had they just pled guilty. March pled no contest, which is guilty and did not fight it. He knew he was wrong and is taking responsiblity for what he did. Yeah he still is a "Crap Bag" but a killer come on people. Accidents happen and thats what happened. Had a sober person been driving the same out come would have happend. The poor boy ran out with out looking. I feel sorry for his family and friends. Please look within your hearts to forgive. I'm sure March didn't plan to go out and kill someone. accidents and poor judgemnetm happen and it is sad everyone gets affected by it.

Officer punisher: I hope you don't get in the way of target practice next time I'm firing my gun. Because like you said, accidents happen all the time, it would not matter if I had been drinking and just could not see you that good. Because I would never had planned it, it just happens you stupid idiot.

So Criminal SteveO are you threatening my life? what you just said is unbelievably dumb. Accidents do happen all the time which this was. Please research the penal code first before you post a threat on some ones life. In your scenario you would have most likely been charged with several felonies and maybe murder. You can't compare apples and oranges Stevey not the same. Being drunk behind the wheel is one thing but firing a weapon without due regard for the publics safety is by far worse. Please go back to the first grade and learn something useful.
