Its time to start the movement to look at the BOE decision in the building of the new school at the only site they chose to build. Its a dangerous spot and would cost double the amount with all the extras it will have to entail than the buy the land on top of the hill behind the present high school. Nat. Baldwin proposed to the BOE to sell this land at very good price. Then the new gym and football field could still be used. A little know how and a bridge could connect the two pieces of property. BOE idiots get your heads out of the ground and listen to the local people not your own wishes or the Superindentents wishes.

you are absolutely right. That makes better sense. It will be too late when those kids start getting in wrecks out there.

I'm just wondering what any BOE members have had to say...has anyone talked to them...you know....on the phone or in person...? How can they go along w/the proposed site?!

Also, what have the co. comm. said about the whole situation?

Does anyone know?

The BOE still remain silent after many has tried to reason with them. They are still not saying much. Because they don't know much. All they want is a new school and thats it. As far as the County Commissioners they don't want to get involved because it might cause a ripple and their little pond might be disturbed and they will have to do something. They don't want to get involved because they want to be voted back in again instead of doing their job.

Please don't put ALL the commissioners in the same category; some of them are TRYING to get things done. It's hard to change patterns that go back years and years.

Why don't we give these new commissioners our support and help them any way we can. I plan to encourage them and thank them for the changes they are working on.

As most of you have read the Soperton news my wife (commissioner Kim edge) and I was at the last school board meeting and presented evidence that the new school is in the wrong place. I have read your comments on this site, and didn’t see any of you at the meeting. The studies the BOE had done are incorrect. I am asking you for your HELP (lets work together). This school is going to be built in the most DANGEROUS area in the county unless the citizens of this county stand up and stop it!!! We have spent time and money furnishing information to the BOE, COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, and the CITY COUNCIL.
We need to get the public more knowledgeable of this DANGEROUS situation. We need real contact instead of code names on this site. If you are SERIOUSLY concerned about this issue my phone number is in the book (Keith Edge). DON’T let this happen let’s get together and STOP IT. CALL ME, TOGETHER WE CAN STOP IT.

Thanks Keith Edge

BOE is bowing to the local gods (ie: who have the $ and who will make the $). Can't afford decent math teachers or biology/chem labs but going to build a school.. Ever wonder why why most students graduating from here need remedial courses in any decent college?

On subject of "biofuel" - why does no one ask why moonshiners never made self-sustaining stills?? LOL Think hard and respond people.

Here is another idea for you out there. Sooner or later someone WILL smuggle out a 5 gallon bucket of methanol from Range Fuels. There is no way anyone will get timely treatment for the ingestion of methanol here since the EMS must ask for directions even inside city limits.

Do you really think the STATE OF GA would agree to build a school in a DANGEROUS SITE? COME ON FOLKS!! Dont listen to this crap! We live 45 minutes from a NUCLEAR POWER plant. Where can we build our new school to avoid danger from it should it explode? How can we hide from a meteor? GET A GRIP. It is all about certain citizens trying to up the price of their land above book value and stick it to the people who end up buying it. If these potential buyers find out that the school land was purchased for fair market value, they would want to purchase for the same price. Do you honestly think Royce Fowler would have built his new home right behind the plant (Less than a half of a mile and closer that the land for the new school) if he thought it was dangerous? Not hardly. We need a new school and those of you who do not think so, should go and visit the Elementary School and witness the mold growing on the ceiling. You know what...it does not even matter. The school will be built and it will be built there. Complain all you want, it wont do any good. From what I know, we are very close to breaking ground. Just a few more legal issues that is just a matter of paperwork. If you want the truth, not the ideas of people who are in the argument for their own benefit, call Chuck or a Board Member. There phone numbers are listed and they will be glad to explain the TRUTH to you. The safety of the children in Treutlen County is their first priority, mine included. Chuck and the Board has worked really hard to be sure that our financial matters are in order. I mentioned this "name bashing" website to him and suggested that he read it but he does not care what people say about him. HE IS NOT IN THIS FOR A POPULARITY CONTEST or for his own benefit, he is doing this for our children.

Treutlen County Schools made AYP Adequate Yearly Process for eight consecutive years in a row. This feat is something that only a few counties in the State have done. Our children get the best we can give. Mabye you need to take a look at our test scores compared to other surrounding counties.

You want to know why they are not saying much? Because there is no need to. The school will be built and there is no need to argue over it. The tests have been done...and are not inaccurate! Legit questions are answered at the Board meetings should you care to come. You may not hear what some of the people on here want you to hear.. but you are definitely welcome to come and voice your questions and concerns. Props to Chuck and the Board for bringing us a new school!!

Nothing.. we just have a few people in our town that like to stir up trouble and are out for their own benefit. It WILL BE built. Most of us are happy but then we dont have price gouging on land values blocking our opinion.

This may be true, but our Graduation Test scores are at the bottom, below Montgomery County and Wheeler County. I have nieces and nephews in both schools, and I know this to be true. We should do something about this, as our students are having to take remedial classes when they leave THS.

Karl,
I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for someone who would smuggle a bucket of methanol from Range Fuels and ingest it. They would obviously not be very smart, and perhaps the world would be better off without them.
Also, I think the still at Range will be a little better than the ones that were built around here in the middle of the woods for a couple hundred bucks. Try 200 million better.

I guess this is why last years GRADUATING Class was awarded the GOVERNORS CUP at graduation for their achievement ont the test! The kids that leave THS and have to take remedial classes would have most likely not been in the College Prep line of classes and would have needed them no matter what school they went to. You do not need to put Treutlen and Montgomery in the same range. Let me remind you....They did not meet AYP. Please get informed...call Chuck, the Board, or any teacher you know!

I agree. As a recent THS graduate and a current University of Georgia student, I can accurately say that Treutlen County schools do a wonderful job preparing students for college. Many large, prosperous schools in the Greater Atlanta Area do not prepare their students as well Treutlen High School and they lack many of the limitations that hinder Treutlen County schools.
