Gang's turf is secure

Is it ever possible to write up an architecture story in Chicago and NOT have a quote from Stanley? What does this guy do anymore except pose as a quote-whoring Truman Capote impersonator?
And as for Gang, it sounds like all they did was come up with a 'big' concept and left it for some other professionals to work out the details. Say what you will about Loewenberg, but as the architect of record, they and the contractor are making this building real.
Calling their Formalism "rationalized expressionism" is just another way to describe a thought process or an art project. Real architecture must grounded in the reality of its construction. The design architect's role (similar to the 'Starchitect' that Kamin coins) will ultimately diminsh the role of the architect to just another consultant-for-hire.

My husband worked with Jeanne's father years ago, also as a civil engineer starting in Bloomington, Il. He would have been so proud of her accomplishments. I thoroughly love the design concept and her forward thinking to accomplish these ideas. Beautiful!
