ANYTIME you vote to increase a tax, You lose! Government (school)(local)(state)(federal ) of any size will do ANYTHING they can, wheather voted on or not to increase or generate revenue.
City tax, county tax, state tax, federal tax, employment tax, sales tax, Wheather you make a dollar or spend it, the CROOKS will get a portion of it. And it will NEVER be enough, They will want more more and more, Ya just gotta say NO....

I went to one of Kerr's presentation and seen all the details, and I feel that the school is trying to all it can to get by, and not loose anything that the kids need/enjoy. Just my two cents.

I had the opportunity to listed to the presentation also. I believe that the Rock Port School district is in this mess due to a couple of reason including the increase in costs as well as mis-administration by the previous Superintendant of schools. Looks like he got out just in time didn't he. I respect Mr. Kerr and feel he has the best interest of the district and children at heart. I support the levy this time. Not sure I would have it the same super was in place.

The sad thing is that everyone knows that no sports would ever be cut from Rock Port and that some of the programs listed were already being cut from the state... Rock Port had no control over them. Also, the scare tactic worked... they named something from every walk of life that would scare something in everyone!

Unfortunately that scare tactic worked numbers on the public. There is no way Rock Port would eliminate sports. One of the academic programs cut was cut by the state, Rock Port had no control.

I also heard that they were going to put the school back on the ballet again. Just what we need now is a new school to pay for. Come on people enough is enough on what we have to pay. If they want to cut cost then start with the pay that some of them are getting like 85,000.00 for one person, now isn't that about enough for Rock Port.

What is the big deal with supporting our school without the negativity? Have you compared the numbers to other local school districts? RP has one of the lowest levys, and that wasn't a scare tactic. What ever happened to Rock Port Pride,or bleeding blue? Have you guys even taken the time to walk the halls of the school and see what kind of environment our children are in on a daily basis? Well, I have! I travel alot with sports, and ours is definately one of the oldest schools around. I just think that it is sad!! I don't like paying higher taxes either, but if it is going to stay here and be put to work to better the learning environment for Rock Port Children, then I will support it!! This was needed folks!! I don't care what NEGATIVE publicity was out there. Think about how you would feel if you have to go to work everyday in the same type of environment as our children, where the electricity in the building won't even support the use of computers needed by our kids! Come on people WAKE UP!!

Yes, I have walked the halls and been to sports there and they could of fixed things up at that school instead of letting it get that bad of shape. I also have seen the no bullying sign, it sure wasn't there when my daughter was in school it was so bad and they wouldn't do anything to prevent it. That wasn't to many years ago.

Yes, I've been to the school and walked the halls and been to sports there. If they would of fixed things every year on the school that needed done they wouldn't be wanting a new school, and whats up with the No Bullying signs on the door, where was that when my kid was there, they didn't care about the bullying that went on there then. I'm tired of paying more taxes and for you, you don't have to pay the Rock Port taxes it says you live in Nebraska.

Last year our school had a $5,000 in the capital improvement fund. Out of that only $1,400 was spent. They are just wanting the public to think they are broke. I have done my research and just don't think that those elected are managing our money very well. Unfortunately, no one really runs to beat out any of them. Our board has always been "yes" people. If the superintendent suggests it, they say yes!

Yale University and Norte Dame are old schools, but they don't tear them down, they maintain them.

I could go on forever about this matter. I feel like I am friends with several of the board members, but at election time, I feel like they choose not to be my friend because of the stand on take on the subject.

I've also been told that they have like 100,000.00 in the bank drawing interest and they still crying wanting more money. Why don't they use it and then when it runs out raise the taxes.

I was told there was a letter sent around but I didn't get to see one. If only more people would listen or better yet check the facts themselves. But sadly - a lot of people take our school board and school employees at face value. Do people really think they are going to tell all the truths!

Yes, they do. Fortunatly not everyone feels there is a conspiracy going on. I trust the new administration completely. As for the old, not so much. Give these guys a chance!

As for the comment on Yale University and Norte Dame, look and see how many millions they have spent on renovations of those old schools. Would you have supported the levy for the new school if it was to completely renovate the new school for more money?

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Pisces

The last thing you want to do is to picking over every little thing. Instead, you have one eye permanently on the clock and you're trying to cram as many activities into the day as possible. This will be good fun and you'll enjoy keeping up the momentum, but beware of a possible tendency to become reckless or to try to cut corners in order to save time, because this will be self-defeating in the long run.
