I have yet to try the new steakhouse because I have heard so many bad comments. Has anyone had a good experience at the Iron Grill?

It is a very very good place to eat. It for now isin't a place to go and be in a hurry. They are so bury, that at times it's a little slow. I will wait a little just to have the food that comes from that kitchen. Try going a lunch, it's not at busy and the food is just as good....

i was there the other night and the food was good the service was great and it was a nice place the prices was not to high and you got a lot of food for the price which for 5 of us it was only $38.00 for all of us so it is not bad. i have heard all the bad comments about the place so i went to see what it is like and from the time we walked in to the time we got our food and was eating it took about 35 to 40 mins and if you go to trails end you are going to pay more money not get the service you get there and not get enough food for the price you pay and the food isn't that good.

Thats bullshit...It takes forever to get your food, it's been cold, and the only thing that they have going for them is the bar. They have paid customers $100.00 just to leave and told them to go across to Trails End or McDonalds and get there food. Granted the service isn't that great at Trails, but it is faster and the food tastes just the same or better. The owners don't have any idea how to run a restaraunt they just know how to spend money and make things look good. And the whole thing about you getting food for 5 people and it only being $38 is crap too!

As a resident, I've heard both good and bad things,(more bad than good). and yes, they have paid customers to leave, they refuse to hire a chef, they just have the male of the household back there with the grill. They honestly don't know anything about running a business as far as I know.
Yes, Trail's has gone downhill since my family sold it back in the late 70's. However, the food everytime I'm there is good, cooked the way you ask it to be (usually, and if not they'll fix it). And I don't think I've ever had bad service there.
You won't see me at the Iron Grill, but it's for other personal reasons other than the ones mentioned there. I don't wish ill will on that family, so I hope that they do get things figured out and things work out for them.

I think Rock Port is so full of judgemental people. Can't anyone say anything nice? They all want this ridiculous school bond to pass, but yet most of the "yes" people are the first to put down anyone trying to start a new business in the area. I'm pretty sure the steakhouse brings in way more people than the hideous eye-sore windmills. Whatever happened to cutting someone some slack and maybe giving a second chance? We have voted on the school bond issue how many times? So until you put forth the effort and make a real contribution to the community, I guess you need to quit shattering a man's dreams and start your own business. You seem to know it all, so good luck to you!

Angie, I have never heard of a "fastfood" steakhouse. Do YOU go there and get a $5 steak in 5 minutes or something? I have been a waitress for over 10 years...maybe you were a rude customer and that's why your food was cold.??? BTW, if you are rude at Trails, they spit or worse in your food. You must be used to that though, being the seasoned food critic that you are.

They are getting better, as with any new place there are problems at first. Am not real sure about the bar part. It seems to be alittle of all kinds in there and alot of fights seem to get started in there.

I sat and read all the comments about the Black Iron Grill, I live in Atchison County, have eaten there several times and have been served quickly, and slowly. Slow when it is crowded, but wouldn't expect it any different in a small community. The food is usually great, I have had some that hasn't been, but hmmmmmmmmm that happens EVERYWHERE. Give them a break, the fights, hmmmmmmm they are probably from people that can't control their liquor or anger. Maybe the bartenders need to shut those types down a little sooner. Good luck to BIG. Atchison County could use more resturants. Angie stay in Novinger, you probably won't be missed here.

The first month of weekend nights were tough. The first Firday night we had over 300 people come through the door and were ok for a while til the cooking staff was over whelmed. As far as not having a cooking staff well thats not so true. Weekend nights it takes 5 people on the line, 1 prep/salad bar person and 3 in the dish area. There just is not alot of experienced kitchen staff in the area. So if you are experienced and in need of a job come on in. Personally one of the owners has about 15-20 years of restaurant experience and 25 years customer service. In fact that owners family has owned more than one franchise. Ok the other owners experience with restaraunts is eating in them. But hey everything gets better with time. Our seating time on Friday and Sat nights is down to about 20 min depending on how busy we are. I hope all will read the comments and then come in with an open mind and judge for themselves. Denton we love you regardless of you opinions, :) differences make the world go round.

Addessing fights. There has never been a fight at BIG. Close - but we get the fun haters out or the matter settled real quick. We have had people that have been shut off and we have driven people home and we have had people show up that had too much already. The last thing we want is for someone to go out the doors and hurt themselves or someone else. So for a good time an no worries, (well give you ride) come and see us.

I have went out there a few times. The food was ok, nothing that I would call incredible but the service was great. It is better to go when there is not a rush, but the place is fun and enjoyable. As far as the they will give you a drive home deal.....there was someone who drove home a fe weeks ago and got into trouble when she found a ditch. I have not seen any fights in there but if you go to the bar there is alot of people and with any place when they drink there is always the possibility.

We tried to keep her there and find her a ride. Unfortunatly she escaped us before we could do that for her. I am sure if you ask her she will confirm.

Isn't the owners name Rick Debhur?

(comment based on the assumption above)
Actually, The owner use to own the liquor store, just as you come into town, some years ago. My mother use to work for him. I have not seen or talked to him in a long time but he was always a nice guy.

He is... I recieved new information since my prior comment, just me being an asshole I guess. I personally never had a problem with Rick and was basically doing what I try to never do and wrote my entire comment based on hear-say and not on things that I know solidly to be true.

I haven't heard anything new on the Black Iron, so really I don't have anything new to add to the discussion other than an apology.

I wouldn't really consider what I said to be "shattering a man's dreams" and I believe between me and the rest of my family we've made a fairly decent contribution to the community, I believe it would be safe to say more than most.

And maybe next time that we vote on the school, the "vote no" lobbyists will follow Missouri state lobbying laws.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Pisces

Whether the excesses of the past few days are catching up with you or you're feeling drained for other reasons, you need as much rest as possible today. Once you get tired, your defenses will be down and you'll start to fret about whatever is currently nagging away at the back of your mind. You're also concerned about the welfare of a certain person, which doesn't help.
