You found the "perfect" home in York County. You hired an all in one inspector who in 3 hours finds minor problems right. You buy the home and you find many problems. You wonder why it has not burned down.

I am very disappointed with inspections In York County. The county permit department seems to pass anything. Assuming they actually look at the house. Look at the wiring in the crawl space. Ask a master electrician if it conforms to NEC code. Is it supported according to code. If the wires in the junction boxes are soldered walk away from the home.

If the home has corrugated flexible pipe do not buy unless they change. Corrugated gas pipe should be "bonded" so lightening strikes do not poke holes in the tubing. Have it replaced with black iron pipe. The county permit department allows this and puts people at risk.

Exercise caution and don't be swayed by travertine tile or pretty kitchen. These may have to be gutted anyway to fix the home. I am not sure why banks that lend on these homes don't demand quality workmanship and inspections.
