Peace marchers from across upstate NY to rally at Fort Drum

Nothing like supporting our troops.

I think protesting at an Army Base, where our dedicated soldiers and their FAMILIES live is a little too far.

These men and women are dedicating their lives to our country and this is how we repay them... Bravo liberal New York

The tale of Army Private Scott Thomas Beauchamp, the discredited “Baghdad Diarist” for the discredited New Republic magazine, is an old tale:

Self-aggrandizing soldier recounts war atrocities. Media outlets disseminate soldier’s tales uncritically. Military folks smell a rat and poke holes in tales too good (or rather, bad) to be true. Soldier’s ideological sponsors blame the messengers for exposing anti-war fraud.

Beauchamp belongs in the same ward as John F. Kerry, the original infectious agent of the toxic American disease known as Winter Soldier Syndrome. The ward is filling up.

U.S. military investigators concluded this week that Beauchamp concocted allegations of troop misconduct in a series of essays for The New Republic.“The investigation is complete and the allegations from PVT Beauchamp are false,” Major Steven Lamb, a spokesman for Multi National Division-Baghdad, told USA Today. The New Republic is standing by Beauchamp’s work. But Michael Goldfarb, online editor and blogger at The Weekly Standard who first challenged Beauchamp’s writing, reported Monday that Beauchamp had “signed a sworn statement admitting that all three articles he published in The New Republic were exaggerations and falsehoods — fabrications containing only ‘a smidgen of truth,’ in the words of our source.”

While I respect people's right to protest what they feel is wrong, doing this at a military base is a terrible insult to the military and their families. Soldiers do not choose to fight wars, it is your elected officials. They merely carry out the directions of the people YOU put in office. If you want to make a difference, vote. If you want to protest, do that in front of the government. Have some respect for the men and women who are repeatedly putting their lives on the line for your freedoms. March to Ft Drum to pay your respect to these Soldiers and their families, not to make a political statement.

Ready the Confrontation Management Team, boyz, because you just KNOW some of these "upstanding citizens" are going to try something stupid.

it's despicable that these anti-american pro-al-qaeda people are not arrested. they shuld be put in jail for giving aid and comfort to our enemies i bet they all support barack hussein osama. they are all guilty of treason.

Put all these marches in uniform and send them to to Iraq to end the war if they can. Shame on you all.

This may be one of the most profound acts of buracuracy I've seen in my lifetime.

OK, so is it the goal of this march to show the soldiers that putting theirs lives on the line is worthless? The soldiers are not the ones who decide to go to these wars...and yet this march's destination is one where thousands of young men and women leave this country to go fight - because they are told to. They do not have the choice....it is their job. So the message of this march is supposed to be sent to the "American people"...but it seems to be directed and the young people who are giving their lives for all of us to be able to have the freedom of speech. I say - have your demonstration - that is cool - but DON"T march to Ft. Drum! These people NEED our support! The folks that decide to go to war or decide to pull out - THEY are the ones who need to be approached -not the 18 year olds who are just doing their job!

The soldiers there are deployed often and deserve respect, not protests. My brother was part of that division, so I know.../

p.s. For those not familiar in this day, rent the movie Black Hawk Down. It's dramatized to an extent, but pretty accurate regarding the timeline and events that occurred. The 10th Mountain was involved. Otherwise, the events leading up to that were even more heartbreaking, but wouldn't make a good movie I guess. My brother was forever changed by the suffering and despair he witnessed there before this battle. He couldn't even save a stray dog he grew attached to. It's a different world there folks and you should kiss the ground our soldiers walk on for keeping you safe from it!

From what I read, it's supposed to be a PEACE march... I guess we will see.... Ive never seen a peace march that was totally peaceful in my husbands 18 years of service...

To mrbobf and Cooter, I suggest you do a little research and add up the Purple Hearts, Bronze Stars, Silver Stars and other citations awarded to the people on this list. Why don't you start out by checking out Col. David Hackworth?

Communists/losers - I don't think so.
