Woman Charged With Manslaughter in Death of Heather Boyum

The woman involved in the deadly accident the claimed the life of a Fairport science teacher is now being charged with manslaughter.

Meaghan Merckel, 22, is being arraigned on charges of vehicular manslaughter, DWI and inadequate brakes in Penfield Town Court. Sheriff deputies say she and her boyfriend were playing a game along Route 250 Sunday morning when they hit Heather Boyum as she was biking on the road. Merkel struck Boyum with a motorcycle and then Mark Scerbo, 22, ran Boyum over with a car. Merkel was issued an appearance ticket for DWI. Scerbo, too, faces a manslaughter charge and is being held without bail.

Does this mean she wont have her big white trash mouth on every news source that will give her the time of day?

She was not driving but she did drive away and should be charged with leaving the scene of a accident and tapering with evidence and anything else they can come up with.

Subsequent records show a report of Merkel allegedly violating conditions of her probation following the reported theft of an $800 T.V. from a woman in East Rochester in 2010. At the time the probation officer noted that Merkel told her,“I can’t explain why, I just have a problem with stealing.”

That Megan Merkel sounds like quite a gal....
