I do not know any of these young ladies, but as myself being an 18 year old who also graduated last thursday from Attica HS, it scares me. I know that life can be here and be gone in a blink of an eye, or you can wake up in the middle of the night to a phone call that you will never forget. One night, May 21, 1999, my father and my 17 year old brother died in a house fire early in the morning. I was 10. I feel for the parents, brothers and sisters of the young women that passed so tragicly. I start to cry when i think about it, altho they probably felt no pain, the pain their families feel is unbearable. If any of the famlies read this, know that there are lots of strangers out there that have heard this story, and are touched, and truly feel for you. You are not alone. I know for me, it brought me back to the time when i first learned that my father and my brother died. I wish that none of us had to feel such a pain of losing a family member. But unfortunately we do. Rest assured that they are no longer feeling pain, and they dont have to suffer thru this unfair world. This gives the perfect reason to always tell your family that you love them. I realize that this may be no comfort, as there are no words that could possibly comfort you in this time, but just know that everyone is here for you. and i would hug you if i saw you. : ) they say time heals, and right now it feels as if nothing ever would, but it will. I wish you all the best.

Having a child that just graduated high school I feel nothing but sadness and pain for the families of these young girls. This is every parents worst nightmare come true. Just know that every parent who has a child is thinking of you all in Fairport and praying for you. My thoughts, my heart go to you. j/trumbull/ct

It can all be over in an instant. Take the time to show the ones you love that you care about them. Take care of each other. I'm sorry for this loss.

So tragic....My family was at their graduation for my cousin... our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and the community of Fairport. This has been a difficult year for Fairport with the loss of two (2) other students.

I'm confused, were you there?? Did it say in the article that it was speed and erratic driving that caused the accident?? |
you are truly a jerk |

nothing more terrifying than a gaggle of teenage girls driving SUVs. Yikes

After reading most of the blogs on here, I find almost all of you to be insensitive ASSES! The police and witnesses say there is no reckless driving, high speed or alchol/drugs involved! This a tragic accident that could not have been prevented. For all of you uneducated jerks on here: the definition for accident is as follows- An accident is an event that occurs unexpectedly and unintentionally!! These are 5 beautiful girls who had there whole lives before them, truly just starting on the path of life. For anyone who is touched by their loss, take a minute to say a prayer for them and their families that they may find comfort somehow someway, and hug the ones you love and value everyday. And for the insensitive asses on here, take a minute to reflect on your sad life and try and find peace for your heartless cold soul amd hope nothing this terrible ever happens to you.

Though, far away from home (Rochester, NY), my heart is with you all. I grew up in this area, but never knew these young woman. I do however know the stregnth of that community, and I know they will stick by each other and help one another. I wish there was something I could say or do to take this horrible tradegy back. But please know that you are all in my prayers, and that now these beautiful woman watch over us, seated next to our Lord. God Bless!

If you cannot express sympathy and condolences to these families who lives have changed forever keep your remarks to yourself How very rude some people are. Put yourself in this position of grief and loss of a child

I lived in Fairport in the mid-80's and there was a similar accident involving students going to a lacrosse game in Syracuse. This ia tragic, and it is always hard as a parent to outlive your child.

This is every parent's worst nightmare. To lose 5 young teenage girls, all so very lovely & sweet is just unfathomable. All I can say is my condolences to the families of these wonderful girls who were going places in life but who are now going to Heaven to be with God & the angels. May they all rest in peace & may God give you the strength to carry on through these difficult times.
PS: To all the uncompassionate a**holes who post such drivel & vile bile, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I hope you never have to go through a tragedy like these 5 families are going through right now. Their lives will never be the same. So I suggest you shut the f*ck up. To Audra Chamberlain from Stafford I'm so sorry about the loss of your dad & brother in that fire. Although it's been 8 years since it happened the pain never leaves. It stays for eternity. My prayers to you & t the families of the 5 girls that perished in this accident. God Bless all of you. |

It was CLEARLY the Goodman girl's fault; she was driving...I have heard the news reports and apparently she was simply not experienced enough to be driving this type of vehicle...she over corrected and swerved into the oncoming lane. Was she paying attention, distracted by her friends? Who know? No one may ever know! But the magnitude of this tragedy cannot be allowed to overcome common sense and common sense tells us the driver of the SUV was at fault. Very sad, every parent's nightmare...I raised three teenage drivers (all now in their 20's) and I can tell you many nights we lay awake waiting for them to get home. FA |

It could have been prevented by her not trying to pass the van |
