Hi Bobby,
Since you brought this article up, why not present it and comment about it?
Here is his article and observations;
RICHARD LEIB
Stereotypes. They're the foundations of jokes, the focal points of advertising and sometimes the basis for judgmental errors.
Jehovah's Witnesses are an example. The stereotype of these evangelizing religious folks is well-established. If Leno or Letterman cracks a joke at their expense, it gets a good laugh.
The stereotype holds up pretty well because most people encounter Witnesses just one or two at a time and then only briefly. For most of us, the only interaction we have with Witnesses is when they ring our doorbell and hand us a copy of their publication.
On a trip to Rochester, Minn., a while back, though, my experience was quite different. I found myself in the midst of thousands of them.
I first learned about the crowds when Lois and I tried to book a place to stay. We were lucky to get one of the last rooms downtown. The hotels were jammed. The reason was "the convention."
It seems Jehovah's Witnesses hold regular conventions in Rochester and spend a weekend listening to speakers and generally mingling with others of their faith from other parts of the country as they all enjoy the amenities of the city.
I was curious, so after visiting a museum the next day, I walked to the next-door Convention Center and approached the first guy I saw with a name tag.
I found myself talking to a Jehovah's Witness named Juan from South Dakota. Behind me, in an auditorium, 3,000 other Witnesses were listening to a speaker. And most of them appeared to be Latino, like Juan. The whole thing was just too intriguing to ignore.
I asked, "What's the deal with so many Latino Jehovah's Witnesses?"
"Well," he said, "we believe we have a great deal to offer inner-city Hispanic/Latino communities. Witnesses go to these areas and talk to people.
"Some of the people we talk to do very bad things. Some are drug dealers ... some are gunrunners.... And we tell those people of our peaceful alternative to the way they are living. Many of them join us.
"We take our message seriously. Before we go into these communities, our people attend six months of total immersion studies in Spanish. By that time they are able to communicate with the people they encounter.
"We come to these conventions," he said, "to be together as one family. To study and to practice the lifestyle we believe in."
And I have to tell you that the lifestyle I saw them practicing in Rochester was noteworthy. I've never seen a more outgoing, happier, polite group of people.
In fact, as conventions go, I've never seen anything that came close. The manager of the hotel where Lois and I were staying said, "We're thrilled when they come to town. They are our best guests."

There was no material for a comedy routine in these people. They were just well-dressed, friendly folks enjoying themselves.

I certainly am not qualified or interested in commenting on their religious doctrine, but I can tell you that it wasn't possible to see these people in restaurants, on the streets and in stores without being impressed.

It was cool. And it was an experience that shattered a stereotype for me.

I really thank you for yor time and explain more closer about this articel.
but I did not look at full story of this articel,my nature is to express basics of our views about some groups like JW or others ,my christian biblical nature is only to point inside to Bible not on base how clean and polite and sweet people are,but on base of CHRIST LOVE AND DEEP SPIRITUAL SENSE OF SALVATION OF BIBLE,I deeply appreciate your time and understanding my post it seems to me my posts are better improved with grammatic of american language and are lot more understandable because of true christianity on this Forum let people like me improve my language. but I never played to impress somebody how I look or to what group I belong,but i always will say positive about single members of Society not whole wtbs jw as organization if I would do this I would take a little part of corruption happen among some of leaders of WTBS JW but not all of them
may God bless you

Hi Bobby,

I didn't comment on the article, I just posted the entire article as it appeared. I thought the article pretty well expressed itself.

This man's observations really changed his impression of Jehovah's Witnesses. His descriptions of the people and what he observed should say a lot about the God that they worship. Note his comment about their lifestyle;

"And I have to tell you that the lifestyle I saw them practicing in Rochester was noteworthy. I've never seen a more outgoing, happier, polite group of people."

And note his observations of what others said;

"In fact, as conventions go, I've never seen anything that came close. The manager of the hotel where Lois and I were staying said, "We're thrilled when they come to town. They are our best guests." "

Now wouldn't you say that people that are happy, polite, warm and friendly, would be a reflection of their God?

Wouldn't you say that people that went into communities where many people do bad things, thieves, murderers, drug trafficers, gun runners, etc. to help them learn about God, and to put away all of their vices, and to join the Witnesses in serving their happy God, to clean up their lives and become positive members of their communities is a good thing?

Wouldn't you say that they were performing a valuable public service, to help others become upstanding citizens in their communities? To help others learn how to provide stable and peaceful lives for their children, to teach them how to be industrious and diligent workers, instead of their former lifestyle? That's what Jehovah's Witnesses do every day.

I as past 32 years JW know this and am able to say very good and positive about this organization members but not all MEMBERS,this is only show up,but you maybe never experienced inside troubles and accusations of each other about not doing something according to rulers and laws of WTBS JW,you are right!? this type of show up make impressions on worldly people not knowing reality and lack of Holy Spirit inside of elder brothers meetings,ORGHANIZATIONAL COLDNESS AND LACK OF LOVE,lack of sympathy to each other!? in general this is show up.I would tell you something incredible from my own JW experience but I am not JUDGE OR ACCUSER OF ANYBODY I just steped down because saying and doing something different mean double standard and everyday contradicting scripture.. Galatians 5;22-26....this was main reason why I steped down after over 30 years of being JW not only in america but also overseas and as specialpioneer for many years of my young age,but again God do,nt make choices from how you look outside only HE make choice on HIS own? and look at inside of heart,,,we are not able to know hearts and souls anybody and this is our problem because our judgement is from this what we see our eyes not from inside
again my heart is completly with God and completly with neat people but according to Gods Law of Bible exist only ONE HOPE not two and those nice people are blessed by God on this earth without of any salvation because they do,nt believe in biblical hope,they believe illusions of man made doctrines earthly pradise without of 0.001% support of Bible
everybody today who is keeping law and comandements of God are able lead happy life so JW are and they live happy life,and die happy and that is all! no resurection! because earth paradise teached by WTBS JW GB is not biblical promise of new heaven and new earth.....but remember GOD IS SO LOVING GOD! SO SWEET! AND GOOD HE GIVES A RAIN AND SUN EVEN FOR UNGODLY FOR CRIMINALS ADULTERS,THIEFS,SCOOFERS,FOR ALL OF MANKIND HE GIVES BLESSINGS! BUT ONLY SOME PREDESTINED FROM FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD ARE CHOSEN TO HIS ETERNAL HOME ACCORDING TO HIS GOOD WILL AND HIS GOOD PLEASURE EPHESOS 1;3-9....please?read this passage and more passages of Bible states sheeded blood of Christ apply only to HIS CHOSEN ELECTED ANOINNTED CHILDREN OF GOD.

I don't believe this Juan story though. I'm sure Richard Leib's the recounting of his conversation with Juan individual didn't quite go like that. That is not quite witness talk., not in that context.... Close, but not quite.

The rest of the story was on point though.

I like the way you write, actually. It's quite enjoyable to read. I just can't figure out what you're talking about. Do you disagree with Mr. Leib? Do you dislike JWs or are you a JW? I can't make head nor tail of it, so it's like the strangely punctuated random musings my cat types when it walks on my keyboard.

Carry on.

Sometimes they don't even wait till they're home. Right at the K.H after the meeting as well.

I have also seen verbal dustups out in field service cars.

I think we all have a couple of stories.

I'm supposed to just sit idly by while attacked by her on a continual basis?......NO WAY!....... So you're taking what JWF is saying as fact?. You actually give validity to her insinuations knowing her history on here?

You're not dealing fair. You are being partial toward her nonsense.

Therefore, i won't answer. It's not really important what anyone of you think anyway. I share what i choose to share like everyone else on here.

Yes, I recall this one between a circuit overseer and a district overseer. And there were likey many other times that we don't know about.

(Acts 15:38-39) But Paul did not think it proper to be taking this one along with them, seeing that he had departed from them from Pam·phyl′i·a and had not gone with them to the work. 39 At this there occurred a sharp burst of anger, so that they separated from each other; and Bar′na·bas took Mark along and sailed away to Cy′prus.

you are completly right
not giving answer of stupid not biblical questions?
this person even do,nt know that preaching"from door to door "is not biblical preaching!!!nowhere in Bible is any statement of true christianity of runing from "door to door" and giving monthly reports to those"hollies"

voluntarly preaching from door to door is your own decission of your christian freedom not obey forced laws of man doctrines and additions to your faith remember Rev 22;18-19....this words means to all of churches and organizations included WTBS JW GB
