That the Indian Casinos give massive amounts of money to the DFL in order to kill any proposal that might impede on their monopoly in the market. This is why it never passes.

Another example of small government republicans wanting to grow government. On the backs of lower income citizens to boot.

the money on this issue and see who would get their pockets lined. There is no good scenario where this is good for Minnesota.

Why bother, Good idea, but until they stop getting paid off they will never get anything accomplished.

Dumb bill. Just like the legacy bill, you have a hand picked commitee deciding how the "racino bill's money" will be spent on encouraging new business in Minnesota.

Ahhh, let's not forget that our Minnesota Native American Gaming Lobby gives quite a lot of lobby money to the republicans. That way no matter who is in control of the house/senate/governor they win. Remember Mr. Senjem from Rochester co-author of this bill, is a republican, and states, no money from the Racino will go to fund a new Vikings Stadium.

I couldn't agree more. People are going to gamble so why not give the Indian casinos competition? The slot machines are so tight it makes playing them not even fun. I can't be the only one to feel this way either.

Problem is that many in the legislation don't feel quite the same way. They don't want to upset the tribes, who in turn financially fuel their campaigns.

Watch that legislators in the areas around Shakopee and Prairie Island will vote against expanded state run gambling.

First off, gambling and gamblers are not going away. Period.
So, would you rather see these gamblers go to:
A) Canterbury Park and Running Aces to play slots, which would bring in money for the state?
or,
B) the Tribal casinos to play slots, who take in all the profits while the state gets nothing?

I know some of you will say that the Tribes give money to the state but let's get real, it is nothing compared to what the Racino proposal would provide over the years. And the 1,000 slots which Racino Now is proposing will not kill the Tribal casinos.

These gamblers want a place to play, so why shouldn't Minnesota get some of the action. When the deal was set up years ago to allow the Indian Tribes to have Bingo halls and casinos, the state never said they should have a monopoly.

Put slots at the airport, so that those catching connecting flights can leave some money here.

As a P.S. here, Minnesota is held up across the country as what NOT to do visa vi Tribal Gambling Agreements.

Does anyone have the balls to ask Dick Day what's he getting out of all of this ?
We should make a compact with him that states he gets no money or job.Is'nt

70+% of Minnesotans want it. Now it's on the table. To use a horse racing term, we're off and running. Go Racino!

Why doesn't the business union,(the Chamber of Commerce) give money to new business ventures and create an entrepreneurial fund instead of giving money to politicians. Seems to me they gave a lot of cash to these non producers . Quit giving to the pols and start giving to entrepreneurs. That's what business people are supposed to due, invest their money. Or is it easier to BUY politicians?
