"Some are calling for better pedestrian safety in downtown Rochester following the fatal crash" How about putting the judges in jail. The judges that slapped his hand when he's had "a history of driving impaired" These bleeding heart judges need to go. "Some are calling for better pedestrian safety in downtown Rochester following the fatal crash. " See above.

He's still wasted in the booking photo. This man needs to spend the rest of his life behind bars. He will kill again if he is not.

Sadly, the Minnesota laws will not allow a long time in jail. I predict about 4 years at most.

Your point is "RightOn".......our system will never learn that some people are just begging to be thrown in a hole and buried. I can assure you that if one of the victims was a loved one of mine, no jail could keep me from this piece of useless excrement. And I'm sorry to say, my seeking him out would not be to tearfully pardon him.

What? Now it is profane to say 'thrown in a large opening in the ground'? Even the Red Star isn't this stupid.

He was charged with 19 crimes and I believe at least four felonies. If convicted on most or all of them, he will spend a long time in jail. Certainly, the victims have suffered a terrible loss. I hope that Chris can straighten his life out.

CHRISTOPHER ALLEN TRAUTMAN: a career criminal adds murder to his outlaw history. Trautman is the latest stinking drunk driver whose reckless disregard for public safety severely injures and kills defenseless victims, but unfortunately he won't be the last. Olmstead County prosecutors must not engage in any plea bargain discussions with Trautman, and at sentencing must seek an upward departure from the statutory maximum prison time. Drunk drivers are an irresponsible, inexcusable menace to society.

My daughter was home this weekend for Thanksgiving, we heard of the tragedy, she later found out she knew the lad very well that was killed. She was in the same Mass Com classes at Winona State and they were in an organization together she said he was a heck of a nice kid. Very sad!! My prayers to his family!! It could happen to any of us! A terrible heart breaking situation. Now the tough part..... punishment.... what do you do? People are calling for the drivers head on a platter. They of course are disturbed by the selfish act that caused this incident.(hard to call it an accident) although I'd bet he did not do it on purpose, he still was extremely careless with his actions. It also bothers me that he has drug issues also. It does not seem to be a case of a beer too many. Maybe more of a case of oh well, as long as I don't get caught... I can't throw too many stones myself. When I was that age I also drove after drinking too. But for the grace of God did not harm anyone or get into trouble. Luck of the draw? No idea, But I must admit it is possible that I could have been in the very same situation. I do hope those of you condemning the drunk driver all have clear driving records and never drove after being intoxicated. This in no means is written to minimize the irresponsible actions of Mr. Trautman. Nor minimize the unmeasurable loss of the young man's family.

Whenever a drunk kills someone, they automatically should get life without parole. I dont give a damn whom you are or who you are related to.

I went to Austin's funeral today. I think that the man who killed him should have to dig the grave with his fingernails!

This man ran over 4 people and just ran away to leave them all laying in the street. Who does that? He is a coward. He destroyed a family by killing Someone who was loved. Good people make poor choices everyday, but a decent human being owns up to those mistakes - no matter how painful the consequences are. This loser is not a good person who simply made a terrible mistake. After all the pain he has already caused, he had the audacity to plead not guilty this week to his crimes - even though he is guilty of all charges. This guy doesn't even have any remorse. May you spend the rest of your miserable life in prison mr. Trautman!!
