Way to show support for the troops.. Let me remind you that you are lucky that you have the right to say what you are saying. The brave men and women of the military have fought and are still fighting for Your freedom.

Thank your lucky stars that you live in this great country where you can speak your mind and not get killed for it. If you dont like it then I suggest you find some other country to live in.

I however, am Proud of this country and my husband who is being sent over a 2nd time. To all the troops, God Bless You and Thank you for everything that you are doing!!!!!

Hopefully, it will be some time before his son experiences the shame that comes with having a murdering piece of filth for a father. Maybe folks will pretend his father only helped illegally occupy Iraq in order to give candy to children.

Army Sgt. Nicholas Patterson,

May you stand tall within the ranks of God's angels and provide aerial support from the heavens for your fellow soldiers.

While you are up there, allow a stray bullet to find its way to the head of DROOG from Lashenden, UK.

You are one SICK individual. I could almost feel sorry for you if it were not for the vile filth which comes from you.

May GOD bless and watch over Sgt. Patterson's family.

"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm." --George Orwell

Nobody wants war. The only thing certain about war is that people die. But some things are worth fighting for and war can be an appropriate response. We who live in prosperous democracies like the U.S. often forget that we have a lot to defend and there are those who would dispossess us of both our prosperity and our freedom.

Although it is fashionable to say otherwise, we have made great strides in the avoidance of war and the preservation of peace. Various international norms and organizations are in place to prevent the escalation of conflicts and they often work. We are aware of war because we hear about every one in the world, but the incidence (per human) is much lower than at any other time in history and the area of the world living in relative peace is growing.

Until the post World War II generations, it was unlikely that anyone could live his/her whole life without being directly and personally affected by organized violence if not outright war. I don't mean something like having a war in a far away place. I mean having hostile soldiers pass through your homeland or someone very close to you killed in a conflict.

The question is not why some parts of the world are still subject to war. The real question is how did it happen that such large areas of the world are essentially free of such conflict. It is probable that a twenty-five year old living in most of Europe, Japan, Australia, Latin and North America has no personal memory of organized violence and has never seen war except on television. This is an extraordinary achievement.

One reason we have been able to avoid the conflagrations endemic in the past is that we have been vigilant in the defense of the peace. Ironically this has meant being ready to fight. If a society becomes unwilling to defend itself, it falls victim to the most bloodthirsty tyrant who will step up to fill the void.

In a very real sense, peace is based on the ability and willingness to go to war. Pacifism is a valid strategy only among those who are unconcerned with their lives and liberty or those who know that others will defend them. Thank God for our defenders. Have you bothered to notice the information about a couple dozen Syrians and Iranians in Syria dying while putting chemcial and nerve agents on missiles? Syria has publicly claimed to be against WMD. Now those you support are putting WMD on missiles. All that stuff from Iraq found its way to missiles and you weren't paying attention.

Hey Mee,
It is amazing that you should suppose God would bless this dead grunt ( or "watch over his family"). God, in His infinite wisdom, despises those that go murdering innocent people for no good reason. I suspect that Patterson is now being slowly toasted in hell, while reflecting on his evil life.
It would make a change if just one of the abusive comment makers explained exactly what threat Iraq posed to the U.S. To suppose, as the demented Proud Army Wife does, that he was fighting for "our freedom" might make sense if other countries weren't freer than America without occupying oil-rich countries and killing folk.

God Bless Sgt Patterson, his family and community.
Once again, the mentally ill post rediculous, bumper-sticker statements.
Our solders have been given the mission of bringing freedom to oppressed individuals all over the world. This and defend the homeland. A very difficult and almost impossible mission. Since 1890, our soldiers have done this. They have been honored for their sacrafice. In the last 40 years an ugly side of humanity has turned this noble military to it's own twisted view of America. No matter that we never take land, rape, steal or torture. Our enemies have no rules. All our soldiers do is bleed and die. Seems even that isn't good enough for these wingnuts. Ignore them to a point.
I will never let what they did during Viet Nam happen again. Not on my watch! Attack the leaders, leave the soldiers and their families alone.

Hey Droog,
What is wrong? are you jealous that you don't get to live in the U.S. or the fact that the U.S. doesn't allow you to come here. As for your idiotic comment about this brave soldier "slowly toasted in hell, while reflecting on his evil life", I don't see you defending your country or your beliefs. Before you speak again, think about it.

Wow! The ignorance of others is truly amazing. For those that support Nick, thank you! I'm sure his wife would appreciate it, but to see some of the other comments would just tear her apart.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Scorpio

A loved one is extremely upset today, and you'll soon know all about it. Things are out of proportion, so a minor hitch becomes a huge drama that means you've got to drop everything in order to calm them down. Hey ho. At least it won't last long. If you're doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, you won't have as much patience as usual and nor will anyone else.
