That is real nice of Georgia. Especially when you consider that The Right to Keep and Bear Arms should have never been subject to legislation in the First place! A FACT this country needs to REAWAKEN itself to.
ALL ATTEMPTS by government to CONTROL arms, in ANY FASHION, are REUGNANT to the CONSTITUTION, and therefore NULL and VOID! This FACT is spelled out quite clearly in Federalist #28,(The documents used to SELL the idea of a FEDERAL government to the people), and other writings by the Framers.
ANY STATE that has restricted their citizens RIGHTS, in ANY way, shape or form, is in DIRECT VIOLATION of OUR CONSTITUTION!

As long as citizens realize that this is a right to defend and not a right to bully. Then fine. But if this is for the citizens to kill someone who has no intent of harming them then it is criminal. The writing of the law should be in plain english so there is no doubt that it is for self defense only at that moment. Keep in mind that a reasonable man (or woman) who walks away and then returns with a loaded gun is not necessarily acting in self defense because he could have kept walking away.

And, the other question: who keeps these guns from the children of the owners of the cars??

Not true. I own several target handguns and they have never been used to kill anyone or anything unless you count a paper target or steel plate. They were specifically manufactured for competition shooting. Of course they can be misused like many other tools such as baseball bats, kitchen knives, neck ties, and tire irons, but a rational person would hold the tool-weilding criminal responsible for the misuse and not "blame" the tool... I think House Bill 998 is a good idea.

I realize it's hard for most gun control advocates, but if you remove the emotional element and look at the facts, all facts indicate that the places where there is less control (read: removal of our freedomd) are the same places that are the SAFEST!!

Personal responsibiltiy and accountability. Strange concepts I know, but that's where we need to return.

Glad to see our state returning some of our Constitutional rights back that were taken.

What countries and what proof or unbiased statistics do you have that it is safer with absolutely no guns? If you are using stats provided by gun control advocates, they are spurious at best.

Wow are you an idiot, where did you get your "facts" a cracker jacks box? There is more crime against innocent citizens in countries where the criminal element know that the victims cant defend themselves. Another thing if it werent for guns you'd be cleaning out stalls in some English barons estate. As for our Constitutional rights "Bullshit" as you put it, I for one take the Constitution of The United States so seriously that I vowed to protest those rights even for assholes like you. If you dont like them then I invite you to immigrate to one of your "safer" countries.

so predictable, so hilarious, you can hear the same nonsense from every hillbilly across this country, clime out of your hole and get educated, before you try and rebut me, please.. and if you have ever spent time out of this country, which I'm sure you have not, even without statistics, the rest of the world is a far cry from the US, we are the only country that is diff. and guess what, we are the only country where you can buy guns at every corner.

just for example these are 2003, GUN HOMICIDES ten worst CITIES in the US per 100k people and ten worst COUNTRIES per 100k people, but if you'll notice all ten of the countries are/or have been in tumult in some fshion....and if you'll look around jacko the US hasn't had a war or civil war on soil in a LONG freakin TIME.

SO if you exculude WAR, CIVIL WAR, ISLAMIC GOVERN. and DRUG WARS (i.e. columbia), gues what you redkneck::: numbers are numbers are numbers

war is war...no if, ands, or buts, about it. the actual act of gun control makes about as much sence as the war on drugs. i think that if people want something bad enough they will find a way to get it. i can be drugs, guns, money, sex....it can be anything. trying to control any of these things and outlaw them or to try to further the restrictions and make any attempt to make it harder to aquire any of these things will create a black market for them. with black markets come a rise in violence and violent crimes. if there are any real ideas on what we can do to make an actual diffrence i for one oule love to hear any opinions. but the relentless name calling and attempting to belittle one another is getting out of hand. come up with ideas and find a solution.

Before George W. Bush signed into law the Concealed Carry Law in Texas, The nightly news showed a convenience store being robbed nearly every night. After the law took effect, the occurance dropped to where it was a rarity. Maybe one reason for the violance in American relates to the diverse cultures. I heard on the radio this last week, that 95% of the arrest warrants in LA county for homocide were issued for illegal aliens.
Look at this.
Although there is more per capita firepower in Switzerland than any place in the world, it is one of the safest places to be. To the delight of Americans who support the right to keep and bear arms, Switzerland is the proof in the pudding of the argument that guns don't cause crime.

Hey Tom I have spent time in other countries, however I dont feel you have. I am neither a hillbilly nor a puppet and am fairly well educated as I am a 3rd year medical student thanks to the Army, and my government the same one that allows your rhetoric. If you can read what I am writing then thank a teacher, if you can read it in American English then thank a soldier (a man with a gun)

Ok, this should get the capital punishment folks frenzied: How about, everyone that wants to own a gun can have one. But if you -- or your gun -- are ever involved in a homicide or accidental death, then you get the electric chair -- end of story. There would be exceptions for law enforcement and self-defense. But if you leave your 357 loaded under the bed and your child finds it and blows his/her brains out - you die. If you get upset because your spouse was cheating on you, and you kill her and her lover in a heat of passion - you die. If you pull out your piece in a bar fight and someone accidentally gets shot and dies - then you die too.

Too simplistic? It's true that "guns don't kill people, people kill people" but I think we're a little soft on the people that own the guns.
