It irritates me how people are so QUICK to judge someone after reading one article! There is alot more behind this story. This man was trying to make the best of his situation. He was a very HARD worker and a sweet man! Did you ever think that his criminal record was theft and not murder!!! Maybe he was HUNGRY?! You really do not know how blessed you are until you meet someone who didn't have much. We will miss Alvin very much. He don't think he realize how much he was loved and appreciated.

i live right across the street from Alvin and almost 3 weeks ago yesterday, my car was stolen from my driveway - how odd is that ....
Agreed he should have never been out, and he has needed some help for a while now.
Sad story for our small close community!

I've known Alvin for some time and he was not a bad person, just needed help and didn't know how to get it like so many others in this world. I truly believe that he was a young man struggling through life who needed Christ, made some mistakes and thought this was his only way out. There are so many like him that feel like nobody cares. The world is full of Alvins....and tomorrow this will be old news until someone else decides its better not to live in this world than to have the life they have....they just are not equipped to handle it.

Its hard for me to feel sympathy for someone that took my husband out of his warm bed last night just to end up shooting himself. He may have been a " sweet man" in your opinion but anyone that threatens to hurt another innocent human being is scum in my opinion. That's exactly what he did. He said he would hurt any officers that tried to enter the house. I'm sad for his son but my husband and I have a son of our own. My son could have lost his father because he was doing his job and trying to help this man. Don't talk down to me if I have no sympathy for this "hard worker" that works so hard at being a criminal. I guarantee my husband works harder than this man ever did. He made his own choices. No one forced him to be a criminal.

No one ask for your sympathy!!Your husband should have chose a different job if he liked his warm bed better than doing his job!! He threatened because he didn't want to hurt anyone he was sick. Your not sad you think you know more than you do about people,I don't know what you do for a living but it probably isn't much!!! SYMPATHY no one needs yours so keep it!!!!!

It's a shame that he didn't see anyway out, I have seen drugs take it's toll on many people, leading them to poor decisions. So sad because someone lost a son a brother a friend and more sadly a son lost his father and it's going to be difficult for him to understand, I hope he gets counciling and alot of love and support, I will pray for him as well as the woman who loved and tried to help him and is trying get those horrific memories out of her house.

Swat Wife,I applaud you and your husband. These folks could not do the job your husband does. It takes an individual like your husband who is willing to make sacrifices that alloow me and mine to sleep in a safe, warm bed everynight. As for Alvin, all he had to do was ask for help. He knew how to do many other things like commit felonies and misdeamors, but didnt know how to ask for help? What about all of you who knew him? Did you not care enough about him? Are you feeling guilty? Take it out on SWAT WIFE. Your self rightous attitudes were at the forefront when the man that was loved by so many needed help.

My husband LOVES his job, LOVES his department, and LOVES the men and women he works for and with. He is an amazing officer that works very hard to protect and serve everyone in our community. Everything that I put in my previous post was my own opinion, not my husband's. I never said "in my husband's opinon" or "my husband says". It all came from me, being a concerned and loving wife. He never once complains. So, please do not attack him. He is in the correct PROFESSION (the correct spelling). Teresa, it's none of your business what I do for a living. If you loved him so much then you should have tried to help him. Get off your high horse.

who are you to judge it your husband job to protect and service everyone i have know alvin "bud" walker my whole life we were the best of friend growing up he made his share of mistakes but that does not means he did not desevre help so if you do not want your husband to have to get out of bed to help someone which is his job have him quit or otherwise shut the fuck up

Well then maybe you need to shut your mouth and think about the families that are left behind and you are the one giving your husband a bad name not me!!!Like I said you probably sit around while he does his dangerous PROFESSION!!! I did try to help him for along time! That is none of your business! You evidently don't have any feelings for people who are in pain!! Deal with my high horse MOUTH!!!!!!

I knew Alvin for a short time. I did not know he was so troubled. But, he was someone's father, son, friend, etc. I believe Jesus said in his word something to the affect that He who is without sin let him cast the first stone. Seems to me there's a lot of people out there who want to cast stones. Must be nice to be without sin.

Daily Horoscope for December 21

Libra

You've been quite a gadabout in recent weeks, but as the Sun enters Capricorn at the Solstice, you start to yearn for the comforts of home. You might even be tempted to cancel some forthcoming social events, so you can flop on your sofa and catch your breath. Sentimental thoughts could steal over you in coming weeks, making you think about some of the people you used to know and love.
