thanks for the info. did i read somewhere that it was a nude beach though? not very good for kids? is it a public area?
You are talking about Apollo beach at the Canaveral National Seashore (Atlantic side of Florida). That is the nudist beach (there is more than one Apollo in Florida ;-)
I live in Riverview and I take my grandkids to the Apollo beaches sometimes. The Manatee viewing area at the power plant is also a nice FREE place to take the kids in the winter - wildlife galore and a neat little museum, facilities, snack bar, etc. I also like going to E.G. Simmons park down there (near Ruskin) which is fun to take the kids too - lots of wildlife to see such as ospreys, pelicans & shore birds and dolphins if you have a sharp eye, and wild boars if you watch carefully on the drive to it.
Apollo beach "ain't bad" but there are much better beaches to go to within a short distance (with children), such as Fort Desoto Park for example. North beach there is one of the best around for hunting sea shells with the kids (especially small kids).
