Re: HOLIDAY LAKES.....I am still so bummed that nobody has any pics of this place!!!! I might have posted before that I think my dad has old slides that could definitely be converted into pics but it's a matter of finding them in all their clutter! I loved that place and went there every summer during the 70s.

I recently went swimming at Bellmawr Lake in Bellmawr, NJ.(camden county) we had a great time.

My family had planned on visiting me here in Salem County to go to Parvin a long time family tradition to go swimming until we heard that it was closed because of high levels of bacteria...from geese and people.

Hi. Your post is pretty old, but if you see this and are interested in photos or stories I've got plenty!

REpost, and I'll check back.

I have so many good memories of Holiday Lake. It's part of our family history and still make its way into our stories.

Hi, Again!
Ok, just read newer posts, and will say again, I have a lot of photos from the 50s and 60s. We started to go down the shore more in the 70s so I doubt I have any pics from then.
Sometime in the mid to late 70s my sister and I went there to see what it would be like. It was mostly the same, but the changes didn't matter too much. We were just glad to be back. Bittersweet to be there without the whole family and the big metal cooler and homemade lemonade that my dad put in a giant thermos type container (metal with a plaid design) with a little spigot on the side. Check back soon. I will post photos or a way for you to see them.
Glad to hear from other Holiday Lake lovers!

<quoted text>Lions Lake and Cedar Lake were next to each other and are on Rt. 73, before you get to Berlin, couple miles before. Both lakes were cedar water, so when you came out you had cedar color around all your body hair. Lake Lonnie was near where C.C. MacMillan Publising is. The lake had a deep decent, if I recall and was the main lake for local Riverside folks.
Hey, Jerry,
My family always went to Holiday Lake, but one family of cousins always went to Lions Lake. Our families were big, but often had mixes of cousins in each group. Of course we all thought "Our Lake" was the best one.
Sometimes my father would shake things up a bit by taking us to different lakes. I remember that strange tea colored water, too. Instant tan! I'll send this link out to my family. I'm sure my cousins have pics of Lions Lake.

I've got over a decade on Philly girl so she probably doesn't remember 'Sunshine Lakes'. We went there in the 50s. I think it's now Alluvium Lakes now, a residental community off Cooper @ 73.
Ah good times.

The gentleman was right..there were a couple of lawsuits and a drowning that placed the Lake in financial trouble but the final straw was when lightening struck the pump that pumped water into the lake. That's right...it was a man-made lake!

The real shame was when the church refused to re-new the lease for Holiday Ice Cream. Somehow the ice cream barn didn't fit into the christian culture of the property. The family bought the old WAWA across the street to sell their ice cream. Are they still there?

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Pisces

You should have a lucky break today when fate steps in and takes a hand. For instance, a situation may seem to be heading for disaster when you're suddenly bailed out in ways you would never have imagined. However, this doesn't mean you can take foolish risks in the hope that things will work out all right because there's no guaranteeing that they'll do so automatically.
