Tahquitz High assigned second school resource officer

“They're new to high school, still trying to figure out the system and don't see an end to their high school career yet.”

At the start of every school year, students push the limits to see what they can get away with, said Tahquitz High School Principal Sue Richardson. via The Press-Enterprise

This story is factually incorrect and based on sensationalism for the sole purpose of selling newspapers. Period. Tahquitz is a safe campus and I am proud to have my child attend and receive an education there.

it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.. i go to tahquitz and i went to west valley last year. actually i think that west valley was WAY worse with gangs and fights and stuff. everyone is just making a bigger deal about tahquitz because it's a new school. soo yeahh.. but the rules are WAY too strict, it's pretty crazy.. that's another reason maybe, but i don't know.. but just because the kids don't like eachother and want to fight, doesn't mean that the school is bad.

that was kinda long but whatever.

The parents and students need to be made aware of the dangers at Tahquitz High School. The administration is down-playing what has actually happened in just a short amount of time at this school. It is a serious concern. Racial riots (this just happened last week and all students were told return from lunch early and the school was placed on lock-down), guns, knives, pipes, and alot of drugs. It is real and the truth. No students should have to be sent off to this school when parents are trying to do whats best for there children and they have no idea of the truth. If you say this is a good school, then you have no idea what is a good school and have nothing to compare it to.

I believe that Tahquitz High School and the administration is doing a fair job; however, given the current situation with gangs, I believe there should be NO TOLERANCE given to these particular individuals. Schools need to be safe for all children and if that means expelling the kids that are in gangs, then so be it. It isn't fair to the vast majority of students who attend Tahquitz to be in constant fear of their life. Hemet Unified speaks about zero tolerance. This is a great example of what needs to happen. Stop letting the weak(gangs) conquer what is good and right.

One of the problems at the school is some of the bad apples that followed from other schools and we are not talking about the students. A male campus supervisor there is well known for being physically and verbally abusive to students. People who should not be working around children occasionally slip through the cracks but it is up to parents and staff to make sure they get rid of them. It is like the priests who are shuffled from church to church after abuse is reported they are just moved elsewhere and continue their abuse. Enough.

I'm wondering if you're child goes to this school or if you're responding because of the article. There are the same problems at all Hemet high schools, not just this one. If parents want to know more about what's going on, talk to your children, don't just read what's in the paper. Be an active participant and not a bystander. Listen to what your children are saying. Yes, there have been some problems, not unlike any other school, but it's not worse than those others.
It's not just a few bad students, but a few bad staff also. They are not helping the situation either. If more parents become involved then maybe it would improve.

I pulled my child out of West Valley High School because of all the problems with the staff and supervisors there. I placed him at Tahquitz, being a new school in hopes that he would have a better environment. To my surprise, I have found a new school with the same recycled problems from West Valley. Even one of the supervisors that I and my child had the problem with at WV is now at Tahquitz as a supervisor. He must be backed by one heck of a union when he can make so many mistakes and still continue to work in the school system. I have also found that being a new school means sweeping things under the carpet as much as possible to ensure it's success. Hmmm...

The problems, and there are problems, at Tahquitz High School can be solved but not by the administration and Superintendent burying their collective heads in the sand just to make their mulit-million dollar school look good in its first year. The time has come to be educators and responsible adults and do the right thing.

I think if more parents go to the school and complain about this supervisor, maybe something will be done. I know nothing was done at WV and they passed him on to the new school, but the more vocal you are the better.
I have heard also from a couple of the kids how bad this person was and still is. Maybe the school board needs to hear about this. They don't want any more bad publicity and this might get something done to improve the school.

Much like the janitor caught molesting a student in Temecula, the pervert blight has been in Hemet for some time. It's easier for administrators to look the other way and hope their schools will continue without bad press than to do the right thing and FIRE THE SICK PERVERTS NOT let them prey on our children. PARENTS LISTEN TO YOUR KIDS when they tell you they are being treated "inapprotiately" at school by ALL staff.

Okay folks, lets take a look at this zero tolerance policy. If you pull out your nice handbook given to you at orientation - its right there in black and white. Most parents don't bother to really read it, but read it - you will be amused. Each student gets about 4 chances depending on the incident AND a second chance on everything. The responsibility lies with HEMET USD. Rewrite your parent handbook and state your Zero tolerance policy then back it up. My child has witnessed all these events-and when I called about the fight that took place after school, no one answered the phone, I called the police department and was referred back to the school resource officer. NOT EVEN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT responded appropriately. I came from a zero tolerance school with my child and I noticed right away. Yes, its a new school, but now that were four months into it...get it together people. Parents-call your Superintendent, email him, write him. Get your voice heard so the changes happen quickly.

The teachers are there for the money!!!????? The only person making a salary that equal two teachers is the principal.

Teachers hands are tied. Read, teachers have to be very careful what they say or can do to a student. NOw a days most students are as big or bigger then these teachers.

did you see the video recently of students in an out of state highschool where boys beat up a female teacher?

Teachers are constantly being criticized. Try walking in their shoes. Try teaching yourself see if you could do it especially with the school board and the good old State breathing down your back, parents complaining and having about 30 to 35 students with completely different personalities. They chose a noble profession not for the $$$$$$.
