I just saw a news cast with the young man who was walking karley back home, he is a good size teenager, any reason why he didn't try to stop this man from killing this puppy? Protest Nov 15 @ corner of Washington & Van Buren Bvd Riverside, Ca 92504 This fireman needs to be in jail he has a history of violence, and many neighbors are witness to his violent temper, actions, There are more then enough facts to put him in jail and I am outraged he is on leave with pay I don't feel safe with him working for our city or my children or pets this simply is not right

There was never a point when Johnson's life was in danger. He went too far with an uncontrolable rage and commited the crime of animal abuse. Whether Karley ever bit his thumb or not....he continued to beat her long after his thumb was out of danger. A puppy would have to knaw for quite a while to sever ones thumb. There are two kinds of people in this world I despise...liars and those who abuse animals or children. I will always speak loudly on their behalf.

The reason he wont talk is because he is a lowlife coward. Anyone who would beat a puppy is scum of the earth. The reason the teenager did not stop the beating was because he was AFRAID of the man from living in the neighborhood and seeing his behavior in the past. The man is a low life coward who should be fired, stripped of his pension and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Have we heard Mr. Johnson's version of this story? I thought, in this country, that a man was innocent until proven guilty. So many people seem to be condemning this man based on hear-say from the neighbor without hearing Mr. Johnson's side of the story. This a highly decorated fireman who is dedicated to saving lives, property, and animals. Why would such a man commit such a vicious act. So, please, before everyone jumps on the "persecute the fireman", bandwagon, give him the respect he is due and the benefit of the doubt until the facts are in.

I live on that street and know Travis and Glynn. Glynn is very imposing while Travis is actully about 75 pounds lighter and not confrontational like Glynn. He did try to stop him but was pushed away. The Carley incident was bad enough but it's really the straw that broke the camels back.

Wow...Is this what this country has come down to? I own several dogs. Tf it came down to any one of them turning on me or attacking me, I wouldn't hesitate putting it down. This guy seems to have something personal going on with his neighbors, and then... wanted to take their dog home to them? Too bad it ended with him being attacked and taking his anger out on the dog.
This case may well wind up in court.

His interview is available online. I have trouble believing him and I am in law enforcement myself. Maybe you should look at the comments section of the Karley website at www.justice4karley.com . Many of his past coworkers commented on this guys past behaviors and actions. Awards and decorations don't mean squat when it boils down to it, and no matter how you view it, Karley was a 6 month puppy whose life is now extinguished at the hands of a human, literally. Unfortuantely, even the predators slip through into public safety as we have seen so often.

Respect in this case is due only poor Karley who was the victim of a brutal attack by a violent and out of control jerk. If Johnsone were bitten it was only in self-defense.

Johnson is a coward...a liar and just generally despicable.

How would you feel if that had been a child ! You don"t beat anything to death unless your a sick crazy individual,He needs to be put away where he can't harm anything else ! He should have the same thing done to him, he's nothing but a coward. That poor innocent puppy never had a chance. My husband is also a Firemen and we think he is a disgrace to all other fellow Firemen.

Kay, Mr. Johnson's version of this story is not consistent. He has changed it, tweaked it, his injuries are not consistent with what we see on his thumb. He has been hiding and refusing to cooperate with investigators. Fact is, there is an eyewitness to the entire incident which contradicts Mr. Johnson's story and Johnson is in big trouble now. According to reports, he has been planning on retiring in a year and with a criminal trial pending he is trying to retire now with full benefits because if he has a felony on his record, he will lose it all. I don't know how true that is, but that's just too bad for him. He had a choice that day -(1) return the puppy to its owner as he told the eyewitness he would do, or (2) beat the puppy viciously and leave it dying in a pool of blood. He made his choice and now he needs to face the consequences of his actions.

I've owned dogs all of my life and I can only imagine that puppy, while being beaten to death, most likely thought, "What did I do? I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Puppies love unconditionally. They crave praise and promise you love. By all accounts, this puppy had no record of viciousness. In fact, all who knew or knew of Karley state she was a sweetheart and very well socialized. A complete contradiction to Johnson's story of a vicious "badger".

Also, the two neighbors have 10 years of bad blood between them, including 2 police reports filed against Johnson in the past 4 years for animal cruelty and child abuse. Both previous reports were swept under the rug because of his chief position. Just a week prior to Karley's death, Johnson had purchased a "screech" machine from Sharper Image which was used to annoy Karley and other dogs in the neighborhood by inflicting pain on their sensitive ears. The neighbors had an altercation over its use. I believe Johnson's actions were premeditated and he deserves maximum penalty, including the loss of his job benefits.

What an absolute disgrace this person is. He should be sitting next to Michael Vick for a very long time. There's no place in a civilized society for a person like this.

It's pathetic that somebody could do something this horrific and still be walking the streets. His career within the city departments should have nothing to do with his sentencing. I don't care if he's the president of the United States. Through this piece of trash into prison!

Self-defense? Yet he was able to put his hand in the pup's mouth in order to break her jaw? This guy is deranged and needs to be punished to the full extent of the law. I cannot believe he's actually on PAID leave?!?!

Why don't you just shut the *** up! There is no justification for this behavior. Condem, your da** right condem this slug. You ask to give this lowlife respect, look up the work in the dictionary, you apparently don't know what it means. This **** doesn't deserve respect, he deserves to have his face and skull beaten and HIS jaw broke. You ARE just absolutely ignorant to even think you can get away with posting this crap and not have someone jump back at you. The facts are in, the dog died and he confessed to doing it. No puppy can hurt anyone to the extent that would justify it being beaten like this. You are a STUPIDDDDDD *****.
