If you have keep up with the Fayetteville shale in Conway, Cleburne and other counties, you would care. That is where the companies are drilling for natural gas. The different counties have not keep the tax assement on mineral rights by an Arkansas Supreme Court ruling and the previous commissioner has been selling the mineral rights that came under that court order. There are a lot of mineral tax deeds voided by the Supreme Court ruling. Most counties in Arkansas have this problem. Different legislators have tried to fix the problem, but it can’t be fixed retroactively. So the present commissioner said he will keep selling the mineral rights even though there is a problem with how the sells are occurring and that no one has complained yet. A lot of these lost mineral rights center around lost owners because the assessors didn’t keep the books correctly.
Instead of trying to find the lost owners some legislators are seeking to give the mineral rights to surface owners.
We need someone with integrity in this office. I haven’t made up my mine who I will vote for in that office. I will lean Republican though, because the legislature has about a 73% make up of Democrats and they seem to just want to take the mineral rights of others.

Agree, Folks better care about this race too. Ive stated I am voting Incumbents out basically across the board. I say hold these powerful officials we pay to Term Limits and let each one elected by the folks know damn sure they wont keep that job past term limit if they dont hold on to our land and rights the Big Government is taking daily. Yes this Land Commissioner was not established for nothing. I hope folks will turn out and Vote new officials this year and then Hold them accountable and fire them after term up if they dont manage our affairs right. Think they will get the message if the People will do the job and I think the Tea Party might be giving this message and I like it. Do your job or we will fire you when term is up, now thats a concept I like.

This should make a difference to everyone in the El Dorado area. There is at least one big publicly traded company in the City that is involved in the shale exploration, and maybe even shale resource extraction. To break it down, I'm saying that it effects the economy in El Dorado.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Capricorn

If you're feeling lonely and vulnerable, it seems as though someone is out to get you. Perhaps you're separated from the people you love and you don't like it. Try not to mope for too long, because there are important things that need your attention. Speaking of which, if you need to do something that you're dreading, you'll feel much better if you can get it out of the way quickly. If you leave it, the very thought of it will drain your energy.
